Reader Submission: THAI Airways Ticket Reimbursement
Tickets booked in January 2020 for travel in May 2020 (Bkk – Brussels and back). Given the flights were canceled due to Covid: vouchers received. Refund requested instead of vouchers but great silence on the side of Thai Airways. Even received new vouchers this week, valid until December 30, 2022.
Submitted a claim to Worldline on November 6, 2020 to recover the amount paid. Today the full (!!!) amount has been refunded to my credit card.
Silent hint…
Regards,
Lung Lie (BE)
I had booked a trip to Cambodia and a trip to Belgium with Thai…through a travel agency in Pattaya.
Vouchers requested.. have not received anything yet.
Can I request a refund????
Now, believe me, in March 2020, they left me with 2 people who wanted to go back from Hong Kong to Bangkok, from one moment to the next only allowed for Thai.
Haven't accepted vouchers from the start, haven't received satang yet, and don't have much hope of ever getting a refund.
Then booked a flight from HK to Kuala Lumpur, and the next morning from KL to Bangkok, that was allowed, of course not with Thai.
Dear Lung Lie.
I am in the same case, 2 tickets to Bangkok from Brussels with thaiairways, booked with budgetary. be.already booked in 2019 with ticket service included.
So far I have not seen any money back, I have already sent several e-mails to budgetair.be, asking for a refund. They are waiting for thaiairways when they refund the money to them. Already sent mails to thaiairways, their answer is : contact your booking agency. What can I do?
Kind regards, Dirk
There is not much you can do just be patient Budget air they do their best Knowing Budget air (as soon as they have the money from Thai Airways) we will also get it back.
Dear Lung Lie, I would like to say congratulations. Can you tell me what exactly Worldline is? We have the same situation, only I paid via Mastercard NL, directly at Thai Airways. MasterCard's terms and conditions state that once vouchers have been accepted, a request for a refund is no longer possible. Perhaps it might be useful to try it anyway?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Emily Baker
Dear Emiel, at Mastercard you can dispute the transaction if you can prove that you have requested a refund and Thai does not give it. We also did, received the amount back within 2 weeks. Simply via an email with attachments. Good luck!
Thank you, do you happen to have the email address where you did that?
No, but if you search for 'dispute transaction' on your credit card's site, you will find it automatically.
This is only possible if you respond within 3 months of the original departure date. Have also booked direct with mastercard for April. But then it will not be processed.
Worldline..is that in Belgium too..and free???
I have sent an email to a travel agency in Pattaya..they will report it to Thaiairways…
Worldline manages credit card transactions. The conditions provide for a refund if the paid service is not provided. You can submit a claim for this, after which an investigation will take place.
If your complaint is justified, you will get your money back. No payment is required for the intervention.
Most canceled flights fall under this, you are not obliged to accept a voucher or a rebooking. I have received a refund twice, each time for a canceled flight from THAI AIRWAYS.
This is the link to submit a complaint;
https://mijnkaart.be/nl/home/kunnen-we-je-helpen/services/aankoop-betwisten/dispute-travel.html
Also followed the same procedure as Fernand and received everything back from mastercard ING within 2 weeks. Class.
That is indeed in Belgium and free.
Dear Lung Lie.
You can contact me via email address [email protected]
We live in Belgium but have a house in Khon Kaen.
Kind regards, Dirk
I booked January 2020 tickets with Thai Airways from Brussels to BKK. via Mytrip.com for November 2020.
I then asked for my money back, but it took so long that I disputed the tickets through the credit card company.
Within 6 weeks my full amount (3 tickets) back.
I'm in the same boat
booked in February 2020 at E dreams ,thai air.bruss-bkk in March 2020 (4 ticktets)
after many emails for money back gift every time yes sir you have to be patient
paid with visa world visa card
now is my question
can I also request a refund from visa cart ICS?
I've almost given up already
Greetings Kees
Good evening,
I have just tried to fill in the “Money Back Service” credit card with the MasterCard of the ING bank in the Netherlands via the ING website. We paid in January 2020 and the trip would be 01/08/2020. After completing it I got the message that refund was not possible because it is already more than 120 days after the purchase, I tried 3 ways but unfortunately always the same message. So I would like to hear the solution via e-mail because perhaps persistence will win.
Regards,
Emil
Hello Emile,
You must also file a dispute.
The airline did not deliver what you purchased.
Send all documents that indicate that you have tried to get the money back.
If you call the credit card company (not the bank) they will explain it.
I'll call again on Monday, I'm afraid that now that the 120 days are over it won't work anymore, but with trying, Rotterdam has grown big, so who knows. If it works, I'll let you know here.
I'm afraid you're too late. Your claim had to be submitted no later than 3 months after the planned flight, i.e. before 30/11/2020.
General Card Conditions ICS (source https://www.icscards.nl/binaries/content/assets/ics-nl/ics/algemene-voorwaarden/algemene-voorwaarden-algemeen-card.pdf):
“Delivery guarantee: if a product paid for with your Card is not delivered on the agreed delivery date, we will refund the purchase price to you if the following conditions are met:
(a) You yourself first asked the Merchant to deliver the product without result; and
(b) You have asked us for a refund of the purchase price within three months of the agreed delivery date;
...
To all: here is the link
https://mijnkaart.be/nl/home/kunnen-we-je-helpen/vraag-en-antwoord/COVID19_NL.html
At the bottom left, click on “Dispute your trip or holiday that cannot take place due to COVID19”
-> Complete and send the form
-> After a while (in my case 11 days) you will receive an email from Worldline asking you to send more documents/evidence.
Then wait patiently for the result.
Sincerely,
Lung Lie
