Reader Submission: Smog in Chiang Dao (Photos)
It's March and then the forum stories about the smog start doing the rounds again. Everyone has an image in mind, but many people will not know what that really looks like.
I took two pictures here on the mountain this morning and put them next to two pictures from the same place but a month ago. Doi Chiang Dao, on the top photos, is still reasonably visible, but it is also right behind our house.
The ridge on the other side of the valley (bottom photos) is no longer visible.

It's sad, but gives a good idea of what's going on.

Yes that's right. The funny thing is in the morning I can't see the mountain at all. But around noon he comes out of the smog again. What's also strange is that I don't see any fires anywhere. And it doesn't smell like smoke either.
I don't know where it comes from. I went up the mountain yesterday. And drove more than 15 km and saw nothing. And my wife said that in the villages on the mountain they were told not to go outside the village in the evening. Because the military controls everything..
Smog consists of various components, including polluted fog, waste gases and smoke.
Smoke is not always the cause.
As it gets warmer during the day, the “fog” lifts and it can get brighter.
I have already seen several plumes of smoke on Doi Luang. Doi Chiang Dao doesn't seem to burn yet. Keep it that way, otherwise it will come very close.
Dear people
so far it is not too bad with the smog compared to other years and you can come to the north quietly
without any problems, let's hope it stays that way
Best regards from Chiangmai
No problems in Chiang Mai???????? This morning 9 am pm2,5 values 248
NOW 9 pm pm 2,5 values 168.
At what time does the smog come from Sumatra?
