On 18-09-2015 I bought an expensive router from the friendly computer store Pure Hitech on Phetkasem Road in Hua Hin, who had also helped me several times in the past with various purchases of computers for my Thai family. Coincidentally, a week ago my adapter broke from an expensive router.

I checked the warranty form and really I was still entitled to warranty because it runs until 18-09-2016. Unsuspectingly, I went to Pure Tech to claim my adapter complaint. But then the famous monkey emerges from the famous box of tricks.
If such a case receives an article, they determine that as the starting warranty period. In this case, it turned out to be March 2015.

So I was informed that I could no longer claim the warranty period that is filled in on the warranty form. The once friendly computer store Pure Tech was not so friendly anymore. Pure fraud in handling business agreements.

My advice to all of you, be wary when it comes to warranty on expensive stuff. Often only a 1-year warranty is maintained and if you look at the description, you often have a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.

The Pure Tech case certainly falls through the cracks, again the smile appears to be the opposite of the mirror.

This phenomenon occurs in many cases because making an effort for something that yields nothing is not strange in Thailand.
Nevertheless, there are things that properly fulfill warranty claims.
I bought a motherboard from JIB that stopped working after 2.5 years.
At JIB they tried to solve it and soon the message “kaput” came.
As long as you still have proof of purchase, it's no problem.
Motherboard was sent to head office and after 2 weeks I was able to pick up a new motherboard
at the business in Hua Hin.
Since I buy almost everything there, I think it's great that they handled it well and neatly.

Was it an expensive thing too?! until June 2011 I took the trouble to drive all the way to Cha-am (from Hua-Hin) and there at the traffic light on the left and just before the parking lot on the right, opposite a day market, there was a small business of 3 young technicians who were real specialists, actually focused on repairs and real 'trouble shooters', but they also had new stuff and could deliver to order. Also put together something new with a 'real guarantee' that met everyone's wishes. They were always there for me and were not expensive. They didn't have a name yet.

    Hi,

I bought a Sony Vaio laptop at Banana IT (market village). After two weeks it got very hot and then went out. I sent computer science, nothing really about hardware. That was not necessary for this wisdom, because the fan just didn't work. So me back. They only gave a 1 week warranty. But the sale sign said 1 year. Yes, that was Sony, not her.

So me to Bangkok, Sony Center. Top! Were surprised they hadn't taken it. Expert went to look and yes, the fan did not work. I was able to get a new one but that would take a week (many apologies). They had the same model, was also broken, could not be repaired, only the fan still worked. They could and then transferred them (After consultation, I immediately agreed). Enjoyed it for years. Tribute to Sony. Even top brands (A brand) sometimes go wrong, but they also solve that A.

Guarantee…well…the sellers just prefer not to give it (just want money, no problems) but international companies have to and want to, because otherwise you will get brand name damage. I walk around banana it with a wide berth.

    But…smile! 🙂

    Very annoying.
Some brands have websites where you can check whether a device is still under manufacturer's warranty, for example Netgear.
    .
    http://alturl.com/3mjw8
    .
It is difficult if you have purchased a device from an unauthorized dealer.
The next question is whether the adapter is covered by the warranty at all, or at least the cable thereof, because cables are usually excluded from the warranty and usually cause the problem (Break in the cable).
It is certainly not optimal service, but fraud is again a very big word.
Fortunately, excellent adapters in all shapes and sizes can be purchased for a few hundred Baht, so I hope you will enjoy your expensive router for a long time to come.

I think that the response here is very short-sighted and the problem lies with the seller.
I know Pure Hightech very well, have a good relationship with them and promises are kept. And the amount you paid for it is almost unbelievable. But you have to know what is going on, what the problem is and what to expect.
I had an LG smart TV that broke down at one point. Then it turned out that this was 2 days before the expiration of the warranty. I did not call the seller but LG thailand. If you report a malfunction/problem, you must always ask for a TICKET number. they must incorporate this into their problem system. They were able to get a tech after 2 weeks. to steer. No problem, but I did stipulate that the problem was reported within the warranty period. OK, and to keep it short, after 1 month the total purchase amount was refunded.
And this experience I have with Samsung, Siemens and other devices. I have a next-business day service with Dell, the next day they were here in hua hin with a new motherboard.
So, do something yourself and invest for so easy to complain.

Reading this comment it seems like everything you buy in Thailand breaks within the warranty period?
It's a shame that buying everything in the Netherlands and sending it to Thailand is becoming so expensive, but what I have bought new in the Netherlands over the last 5 years is still not broken and I am talking about a Laptop, a Smartphone, a 100 CM TV… . Unfortunately I can't take the TV with me.
But I have lived in Thailand for 20 years and have bought a lot of equipment for the office and private use and fortunately never had to return, even after the warranty expired. I know all the companies mentioned and also know the attitude and morals of the person you need to get something done. It should not depend on your... 'personality' and persuasiveness, but it does matter a lot. If I sent a Thai to work for me, and he came back without anything and I left myself, then it worked.

Your response confuses me a bit.
The complaint is about Pure high-tech and then you state that High-tech is a great company and that you arrange your warranty yourself with the manufacturer.
Since the warranty is supposed to be handled by the seller, it eludes me what's so great about the company.
In any case, the service with regard to warranty does not seem to be in good shape, because you do not hand in your equipment to Hightech either.

Hi Peter, it is best to claim the warranty directly from the manufacturer of the router. Greetings and good luck Somchay

My wife wants a Samsung s6 edge after having the s4 for two years. However, after 4 months, two pins break off in the USB connector, so that it can only charge, but can no longer transfer data to the PC. In the shop of purchase in Hua Hin we were referred to a service center in Hua Hin. With a friendly smile she first told us that it was not under warranty…..strange phone of 4 months. After insisting it was checked and we were told two days later that the motherboard needed to be replaced. Ok, was replaced, but in Hua hin service center it was added that they only replace it once free of charge. However, after three months price again. Samsung no longer intervenes, Samsung Bangkok confirms. The s1 is 6 months old. Previously with the s7, same chargers, had no problem. Heard now that the usb have changed in the s4…no longer the good quality as before in the s6.

I bought a Lenovo computer at Power Buy in Udon Thani for almost 50.000 THB.
Most expensive version. Warranty: 1 year.

After 1.5 years the video card breaks.
I return with the device. Unfortunately, the warranty has expired, but we can repair it.
The computer was sent to Bangkok.

After a few weeks I was able to pick it up. I was greeted very kindly and asked for the bill. Account? Not so. The factory warranty is 3 years, so repair is free!

    Look, that's service!!

Since then I buy everything in the field of electricity (Belkin sockets!) there to my complete satisfaction.
A smile on the seller's lips when I step back in. He knows me by now!

Yeah…. recognizable story. But to publicly pillory a company without explaining any correspondence with their headquarters; that feels weird on my moral compass.

In general, Martin says it correctly; something that “does not yield” in Thailand is not really alive. I take that into every purchase I make here.
