Archaeologists have discovered a prehistoric cave (ถ้ำดิน), believed to be about 2.000 to 3.000 years old, in Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

The archaeologists found ancient rock paintings, symbols and drawings in the cave, which are believed to be very old. The expedition is part of an archaeological project in the Sam Roi Yot Mountains. The experts say they found a total of seven caves with prehistoric paintings about 2.000-3.000 years old, scattered throughout the park. A similar discovery was already made in May 2020.

The expedition team also found ancient stone tools, axes, shells, pottery fragments and bivalves (shells) and evidence that the tools were also used. The discovery of these items shows that people once lived in the area because these objects had to be carried up by people themselves.

The archaeologists are convinced that there are more caves in the area where such finds can be made.

I read the relevant article in Thai Enquier (a nice site by the way): and it ended like this:

Pitak Pitsiriwattanasuk, chief district officer of Sam Roi Yot, has revealed that he is currently in talks with relevant organizations to try to push these discoveries to become a new tourist attraction for Prachuab Khiri Khan Province.

    A tourist attraction! Nice!

What amazing. If I can see that, I'd like to go there. I live not far from there. These are really nice news that I like to come across!
