“Blaze, the Show” is coming to Bangkok
“Blaze” is a sensational street dance show that is taking the world by storm.
Blaze, the Show is an 80-minute non-stop high energy street dance show that brings together the greatest talents from the theater and music world with the best of the street dance world. Their success started in 2010 in London and has since conquered Europe, including the Netherlands. September last year was the Dutch premiere in Carré, Amsterdam and then the caravan passed 20 other theaters in the Netherlands.
World tour
“Blaze” goes further into the world and tours through Asia and Australia. Bangkok is scheduled for two shows at the Cultural Center on September 14 and 15 as part of the Bangkok International Dance and Music Festival.
The director
The production is directed by Anthony van Laast, who worked on productions such as “Mamma Mia”, “Sister Act”, “Siegfried and Roy” and “Batman Live”. He has a passion for this worldwide dance craze, don't see it as a passing thing. In an interview in The Nation he says: “Street dance is the true contemporary dance of the 21st century. If you like dancing and music (all kinds of hip hop) then you must go and see this show.

I could say more about it, but check out their beautifully done website www.blazetheshow.com for more background information. The show has received rave reviews everywhere, of which I liked the Financial Times best: “Blaze is a wonderful, energetic, brutal, to hell-with-everything-except-street-dance show. The cast radiates so much energy, that would be enough for a small village for a year”. See also the trailer of the show below and I am convinced that many will be excited.

If you go
So the shows are on September 14 and 15 at the Cultural Center of Thailand and start at 7.30:700 in the evening. Tickets from 2500 to 02 Baht are available at TicketMajor, tel. Call (262) 3191 XNUMX
Don't wait too long, because it is expected to be sold out fairly quickly. So call and maybe we'll see each other, because I'm definitely going to watch with some friends. Although I am not a fan of hip-hop, I am looking forward to this dazzling show, especially in combination with street and breakdance. Or, as another review stated, it is the best rejuvenating cure currently available.
By the way, has anyone seen the show in the Netherlands and if so, what was it like?

Bert Gringhuis (1945), born and raised in Almelo in the beautiful Twente. Later lived for many years in Amsterdam and Alkmaar, working in export for various companies. I first came to Thailand in 1980 and immediately fell in love with the country. Been back many times since then and moved to Thailand after my (early) retirement as a widower. I have been living there for 22 years now with my somewhat younger Thai lady Poopae.
My first experiences in Thailand as a kind of newsletter sent to family, friends and acquaintances, which later appeared under the name Gringo on Thailandblog. Many, many articles followed those first stories and that has grown into an almost daily hobby.
In the Netherlands still an avid footballer and football referee, but the years are starting to tell and in Thailand still avid, but the pool billiards is really of inferior quality, ha ha!
