Dear Martin,

On March 14, my Thai wife (55 years old) and I were diagnosed with corona. We had the same complaint: mild sore throat. And I had some elevation: 38,5.
She was treated on an outpatient basis at the Banglamung (state) hospital in Pattaya with her 30 baht card and was sent to a hotel for a week's quarantine the same day with some medicines for the sore throat, and was declared cured.

Me, 87 years old, 1.69 m. Currently 88 kg. Blood pressure (using Anapril 20 and Amlomac 10) averaged 145 – 65. Non-smoker, was always a moderate drinker, but stopped drinking alcohol a few months ago, and have now (partly due to a diet) lost 12 kg.

I had to be admitted to Memorial (private) hospital for 10 days. For certain reasons I did not want to claim the costs from my insurance, but to pay for them. After 8 days of treatment I was discharged at my request, but after 3 days I had to make an appointment for X-Ray, blood tests and new medicines.

The result of this showed that my lungs were clean, but that I had to make an appointment again after 14 days for the 5th X-Ray and blood test. During the 8 days of admission, I already had 3 x-rays and 3 extensive blood tests. I was also prescribed medication for about 15.000 baht, mainly Favipiravir tab., CPM tab., and still some liquid medication through the drip (2 days). See attachments.

Isn't all this a bit "overdone"?

What is your opinion about the blood results and the whole procedure? Is it safe if I cancel the last appointment for 14 days?

With thanks and eagerly awaiting your reply,

L.

*****

Purchase,

It looks like you have not been seriously ill, which is normal with the Omikron variant, which currently accounts for 100% of all cases.

The treatment you received was therefore highly exaggerated, although I can imagine that, given your age.

Again blood tests and x-rays don't seem necessary to me.

Don't forget to "ask for proof of repair"

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Maarten
