Dear Martin,

I have a question about being able to take my medication at the same time. The urologist of Bangkok Hospital Korat has given me Alfuzosin 10 mgr for several years now. From the cardiologist since 2016 Amlopidine 5 mgr and Simvastastine 10 mgr. I stopped taking the latter because of the many bad reports about its side effects.

I take the Amlopdipine in the evening after meals, the Alfuzosin after breakfast. Because I often forget the Amlopdipine I want to take it after breakfast. But I don't know if both drugs can be used together because the Alfuzosin also has a somewhat antihypertensive effect.

Can you give me clarification?

With thanks and best regards,

H.

Dear h,

You can take the amlodipine in the morning from me. It is true that blood pressure medicines generally work better when they are taken just before going to bed.

Take it when brushing your teeth, for example.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Maarten
