70 to 80 percent of the factories in the flooded industrial areas in Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani can resume production next month, Minister Wannarat Channukul (Industry) expects.

– Factoryland (Ayutthaya) is dry. Twelve factories started running again on Tuesday. The remaining 70 are undergoing repairs and are expected to be operational by the end of the month.

– Bang Pa-in (Ayutthaya) will probably be dry on Sunday. In the first week of December, 60 or 70 of the 90 factories will resume production.

– Hi Tech (Ayutthaya). The pumping of the water will end on November 25. Most factories will restart in early December.

–Rojana (Ayutthaya). The pumping of water ends on November 30. Most factories will restart in early December.

– The water is still 2,5 meters high at the Saha Rattananakorn industrial estate. The pumping of the water will start in early December. Some roads may be dug open to drain the water.

– On the two industrial estates in Pathum Thani, Nava Nakorn and Bangkadi, the water is still above the dikes. When the water has receded, the recovery can also start there.

– The Bang Chan and Lat Krabang industrial estates in eastern Bangkok have so far escaped flooding. According to the minister, the situation is manageable.

The minister is optimistic that 80 percent of the machinery on Factoryland, Bang Pa-in, Hi-Tech and Rojana is still intact and can start running again when the sites are dry.

Arthit Isamo, director-general of the Labor Protection and Welfare Department, said factories at two sites in eastern Bangkok could resume operation within 2 days as the water in the area has started to recede. In Ayutthaya, he said, 37 factories with 39.382 workers have resumed production.
