Emirates best airline in the world according to Skytrax
Emirates was named the best airline in the world (2016) on Tuesday according to Skytrax. The ranking is based on millions of reviews from travelers from different countries.
Emirates takes over from Qatar Airways, which was the winner last year. That company finished second this year. It is striking that the airlines from the Middle East almost always win prizes. Singapore Airlines was third.
KLM is also in the list and in place 24.
The German Lufthansa has been named the best European airline. Norwegian.com is the best budget airline in Europe. AirAsia is the best low-cost carrier in the world according to Skytrax.
Thai Airways is number 13 on this list, it was number 19 last year. Bangkok Airways is number 20 this year and was 23 last year. Eva is number 8. By the way, Garuda has the best cabin crew. Is there also an independent jury that assesses companies?
KLM is number 1 for me.
As an Amsterdammer, Schiphol Airport is 20m away by public transport for 3 Euro.
Departure in the afternoon, and around 11 am the next day outside the airport.
Return departure at 12.00 and at Schiphol around 18.45.
Direct Amsterdam Bangkok for about 730 Euro Average period 9 months Sept to July.
What I don't like about most companies is the long transfer time at the home base of these companies, which means that the journey can sometimes take more than 24 hours.
The difference in ticket price is an average of 150 euros and I personally don't think it's worth all that hassle
Of course you lose time with a transfer, but if it takes you 24 hours to get to Bangkok with Emirates, that is your own choice. There are so frequent flights between Dubai and Bangkok that the total AMS-BKK trip will take you around 15 hours. Longer than with a direct flight, but many people consciously choose such a transfer in order to divide the time in the plane into 2x roughly 6 hours. Moreover, you are also quite comfortable in Economy in the A380 – at least less cramped than in the 777 with 10 seats in width as KLM uses on the Bangkok route.
Incidentally, I have flown the last 5 flights (within a period of one and a half years) with Emirates and I really liked it. Before that I always traveled with Singapore Airlines – in my experience certainly not 'less' than Emirates.
emirates still a good flight me and staff very customer-friendly
only the staff who check people at the counter at Schiphol for Emirates can be more customer-friendly in that respect
Thai and Bangkok have also won awards in a number of areas.
Thai: World's most improved airline and best airline lounge spa facility.
Bangkok Airways: World's best regional airline and Asia's regional airline. They also win my prize for best safety film in terms of dance and song. Source: aviation news.
I have been flying with Emirates for many years now and as a “gold member” I am pampered with the use of luxurious lounges, fast tracks and extra personal care on the plane by staff selected from all over the world. A break in Dubai is comfortable, you can stretch your legs. Emirates' A380 fleet is the largest in the world. Fantastic planes: silent and lots of space! Dubai is one of the largest airports in the world and super organized! And the travel time Amsterdam-BKK including transfer time is approximately 14 hours!
Nice, that Gold Card, check in at the business desk, a priority label on your suitcase so that it comes out as one of the first, priority boarding, access to the lounges (take a shower in Dubai after a night flight), etc.
As a Gold Member, after boarding, the cabin crew chief will introduce himself and personally welcome you on board. Towards Dubai you will immediately receive your fast track card for the security check. Not that I'm so attached to that – but those surprised looks around you……………….
I am platinum for life at klm. the treatment is the same as that of the Gold Card as described by Cornelis.
