Interesting news for air travelers to Bangkok. After China Airlines, the German budget airline Airberlin is now also going to modernize the interior of the aircraft.

The first A330-200 from Airberlin's long-haul fleet has now been fitted with new seats, both in Business and Economy Class. In addition, the renewed 'Inflight Entertainment System' has also been taken into use.

Business Class

The new Business Class configuration allows passengers to enjoy better seating and lying comfort. The new seats can be operated fully automatically and have an angle of inclination of 170 degrees. This allows the chair to be converted into a chair bed with a length of 181 cm and a width of 50 cm. Furthermore, each seat will have a connection for a laptop or other electronic equipment. The renewed Business Class offers space for 20 people.

Economy Class

New lightweight seats are used in Economy Class. The use of narrower backrests creates more legroom and increases the so-called 'living space'. In addition, there are a number of other benefits such as adjustable headrests, hooks for coats and storage compartments for literature.

In-flight entertainment

Airberlin has announced that it is setting the bar high for the new 'onboard entertainment'. According to Airberlin, the audio-video-on-demand system ''RAVE'' is one of the most modern inflight entertainment solutions currently available on the market. Each passenger has an individual entertainment system that can be operated according to their own wishes. The 8,9 inch (22 cm) high-resolution monitor uses modern LED technology and can be operated via a touchscreen. The headphone jack is located directly in the monitor as well as a USB port for use with an iPhone, iPad and other PDAs.

The complete conversion of the long-haul fleet must be completed before the summer of 2012. When this will apply to the planes flying to Bangkok is not known.

It was about time, because the seats were completely worn out. I have the impression that the passenger pays the bill. If I want to fly BKK-DUS-BKK in September, AB is now asking 1050 euros economy for this.

try Oman Air flying to FRA, but have booked a train ticket FRA AP to AMS with ICE for 29 euros, so it is doable and one-way ticket BKK-FRA 14.500 THB

I flew with Air Berlin from Bangkok last week and indeed the new entertainment system is a big improvement. Wide range of good movies and TV programs. It is striking that AB's low pricing has disappeared since Emirates took over 30% of the shares. You are now better off with Egypt Air, which still offers tickets for around 500 euros, plus the advantage that you can take 2 suitcases with 23 kilos of luggage per passenger. At AirBerlin that is only 20 kilos per passenger.

I'm going to Thailand on February 27 with China airlines, Airbus 300-200 ticket costs 479 euros. Just look on the internet for several days+ I'm free to go whenever I want.[retired]

Booked with Emirates this week. They currently have very competitive prices. Other advantages: from Dubai to BKK with the new A380 and standard you can take 30 kilos as an economy class passenger.

booking tickets via the internet remains a game of chance, the prices change per day, I have already experienced with emirates, try to book, it does not work immediately, try again an hour later, pats 60 euros more expensive, booked 3 days ago BKK-FRA with Oman Air for 14.500 THB luckily paid and confirmed and 2 days later the same ticket costs 24.000 so you can win and lose, so place your bets !
