If you are applying for a residence permit in another country, a letter of support is required in some cases. With this letter from the Dutch embassy you show that you have Dutch nationality and what your income is. You can only request this document by post. There are costs associated with requesting a letter of support.

The Dutch embassy can provide you with a so-called “visa support letter” for applying for a residence permit (“No-Immigrant OA - Long Stay Visa“) to the Thai authorities.

In this letter, the embassy confirms that you declare that you receive a monthly income from the Netherlands and that the amount stated in the letter has been proven by submitting supporting documents.

  • annual tax statement
  • bank statements from your Dutch current account showing monthly deposits of income (a transfer from a savings account to a current account does not count as income)

Points of attention

  • The documents submitted must be recent and original, with the exception of printed online pension forms and internet banking statements. After the embassy has checked everything, you will receive your original supporting documents.
  • All amounts declared as income must be verifiable with the Dutch tax authorities. Income from abroad that is not known to the Dutch tax authorities can therefore not be declared. See the Q&A with frequently asked questions and answers for more information.
