With lockdown measures eased in Bangkok and other dark red provinces, the Department of Land Transport (DLT) has reopened its offices for tax payments and driver license applications. However, some services are now offered online to avoid crowds.

DLT Director General Chirute Visalachitra said services requiring in-person training continue to be suspended.

All visitors to DLT offices must make an appointment in advance using the DLT Smart Queue application, to prevent crowds at the locations.

Applicants for a new driver's license can complete the required training online at www.dlt-elearning.com. A driver's license renewal can be done in the same way.

I did the online training for an extension of my driving license. However, the DLT Smart Queue app has the option to choose a Thai ID or for foreigners your passport; if you click on passport it does not work and you cannot continue with the application or extension.

First tried to do the online training via the app on my laptop (microsoft). No connection possible. Then via my iphone (apple). Didn't work either.
Went to training via Google (useless training by the way). Skipped the step to arrange Smart Queue. After I had a medical examination in hospital (measure blood pressure, put hands straight ahead and confirm that I was not involved in a collision in the past 3 months) I went straight to Land Transport Office. New driver's license within half an hour.

During the medical examination (I am almost 73 years old) it was not checked whether I could see and hear enough.
I was outside again after 15 minutes and payment of TBH 300.
      FYI I live in Chiangmai.

I want to renew my driver's license. Was valid for 2 years, so now to 5 years. When I fill in the form, I think I have to take a test about driving skills. I don't think it's necessary, can I just go there now with the necessary documents?

Renew a driver's license? In the same way? Then it turns out that I have to do a pre-test, watch a video, etc. Isn't that really necessary if you extend from 2 years to 5 years? Or can I just go there without an appointment?
