I live in LatYa and that is near Kanchanaburi. I have been to the light show on the bridge in the past.
If I remember correctly, the performance is only in Thai, but the story is presented beautifully visually so that you can follow everything, especially if you know the history behind it.
You can also buy a seat which costs 300 Baht I think and more luxurious seats cost 1200 Baht.
There are also restaurants on the bridge where you can make a reservation and then watch the performance from there. But I think those places will be gone soon.
In any case, if you're in the area, take a look. It is worth experiencing.
Before or after the performance you can also visit the market on the bridge and your evening will be filled again. 😉
