Good news for Songkran lovers (yes, there are). The Thai government has assured that Songkran celebrations can take place as normal next month. However, health and safety measures must still be observed.

According to government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has pledged that all celebrations and inter-provincial travel will be allowed during the Songkran festival, which takes place from April 13-15. The same goes for the water parties. So it's hitting again!

“However, health and safety measures must still be observed.” (says the Prime Minister's spokesman)

If I read correctly yesterday, they will all be abolished at the end of this month. But that announcement will probably come from another ministry.

It seems to me unlikely that the measures would be abolished at the end of this month, especially in the Chonburi province. All figures have been rising in Chonburi for some time now.
