From October 18, RTL 4 will broadcast an episode of the 16-part series 'Pluijms Edible World' every Friday afternoon at 30:10 pm.

During the episodes you get a glimpse into the culinary discoveries of chef René Pluijm. The series will be shot in several countries, including Thailand. In addition to the culinary subjects, René also dives into the culture of the country where he is at that moment. In this way, Thailand is extensively exposed.

René is a champion of quality and genuine flavours, which is inextricably linked to his love for food and nature. In his quest, René is supported by a resident of the country or region, and he is surprised by the environment and (culinary) traditions. Together they look for the tastiest products, the most beautiful regional dishes, remarkable cooking and eating habits and inspiring people from the area.

At the end of each episode, René and his guide will go into culinary battle and show how the inspiration gained can be captured in a dish from the region. Countries or regions that René will visit in this series include Bulgaria, Northern Ireland, Belgian Limburg, France, Italy, Thailand, Madeira and Israel.

Bangkok

René (an avid practitioner of Muay Thai) visited a Muay Thai martial arts school in Bangkok where he trained and sparred with a local champion. While sparring, René had to take a few hard blows in which he was injured. Back in the Netherlands he turned out to be walking around with three broken ribs, but luckily he can still laugh about it himself. Because in his own words it was his 'most beautiful culinary TV experience ever' and that of course eases the pain. He will have to take it a bit easier in the coming period, but otherwise he feels good and the recordings will continue.

  1. Cees says up

Lonny Gerungan already had a series on Thai culture and Thai food in 2004: The Original Thai Kitchen.
This series has also been released on DVD, highly recommended for those who want to get to know Thailand (a little bit) or who already know it but still want tasty recipes.
