Tea rooms in Bangkok

Coffee lovers get their money's worth in Bangkok. You will find a coffee shop on every street corner; so to speak then. But the tea-loving fellow man has to make a little more effort.

An overview of the five most beautiful tearooms.

let them eat cake

A sleek, French-style establishment that is busy at weekends. Serves tea from Fauchon and Dammann Freres, among others. Not to be missed are the colorful pastries. Address: G/F, Mille Malle, 66/4 Sukhumvit Soi 20. Facebook.com/letthemeatcakebangkok

Peony Tea Lounge

In this shop less than 50 meters from Chong Nonsi BTS station, you can choose from 50 types of tea. First smell, then choose; the expert staff will lend you a helping hand if you wish. The place also serves English scones. Address: G/F, Glow Trinity Silom Hotel, Soi Pipat 2, Silom Road. www.peonyhouse.com

Vieng Joom on Teahouse

The Bangkok branch of the namesake tearoom in Chiang Mai serves traditional Chinese and blended teas. Popular with regular customers are the white and black teas. You can also go there for a High Tea. Address: 93/332 The Emporo Place, Sukhumvit Soi 24. Tel. 02-160-4342.

Agalico

A colonial-style establishment with a garden, where trees provide much-needed shade. Serves scones and cake as well as tea. Bring a filled wallet, because the case is not cheap. Address: Sukhumvit Soi 51. www.agolico.co.th.

TWG Tea Salon & Boutique

Ideal for lunch or afternoon tea. In terms of tea, it may be difficult to choose because you can choose from 450 teas. The tea is served in a teapot, but there is no sharing: one teapot per person is the rule. So here too a filled wallet is a must. The business has two branches in Bangkok: 1/F, Atrium Zone, CentralWorld, Ratchadamri Road, and G/F, The Emporium, 622 Sukhumvit Road. Tel. 02-259-9510.

    TWG also has a wonderful business and excellent restaurant in the Paragon center on the ground floor. The Paragon department store can be reached via the BTS intersection station Siam.

    TWG is definitely recommended, but you have to bring a filled wallet.

    TWG's tee business restaurants are not exactly cheap. That may be true. That is why the handling, the ambiente and the products are of excellent quality. Sitting in the front seat or even 1st rank, . . was always and everywhere more expensive. As for Paragon, you can also eat cheaper there in the food court 100 meters away. Without the perfect TWG service and in the midst of noise. It's just what you want. What you get is what you see.
