Chocolateville in Bangkok

November 26 2015

Driving in an unknown part of Bangkok, near Bangkapi, I saw a direction sign to “Chocolate Ville”.

Now I love chocolate so I thought it might be a chocolate factory or something, but I had to satisfy my curiosity and looked it up.

It turns out to be a new restaurant in the northeast of Bangkok. The restaurant is perhaps the largest restaurant in the capital, as it is actually built as a kind of village. It includes a whole series of European-style houses, sometimes German-looking, but mostly English, in a setting with a lake with ducks, a lighthouse, a (Dutch?) windmill. All this in a park-like landscape where guests can also enjoy an outdoor dinner with a beautiful view of the park.

The restaurant opened not so long ago and is already very popular, so that you sometimes have to wait for a table. All the more startling, because the location is somewhat remote and one has to “search” to find it (address: Kaset Nawamin Road, Km 11, 10230 Bangkok).

The menu is both international and Thai, steaks, spare ribs, pizzas, pastas and out Thailand also dishes from the Isan. In a review I read that the writer and partner opted for the spare ribs and the German Eisbein, with some salad, sausages and soup. Not only the food was of excellent quality, but also the pleasant service in this beautiful ambiance made the dinner a pleasant experience. Chocolate Ville was therefore highly recommended.

Is there a reader who has visited and can tell us more?

It's not that far from where we live. I think it's been open for about three years. I've been there a few times. Nice to visit. Beautiful decor. Food was good but a bit on the expensive side. Good and fast service. It has now been more than a year since I last visited.
