Call: Amateur chefs wanted in the Hua Hin area

I want to share my passion for cooking and good food.

My name is Robert. I have been living in Hua Hin for more than a year and have some passionate hobbies like playing tennis and cooking. In Belgium I was a member of a hobby cooking club. A group of friendly and enthusiastic friends who got together every 3 weeks to share their same passion, namely cooking, tasting, exchanging recipes. Originally it was a 'men's club' but later it grew into a mixed club.

In the beginning, each member had to take turns cooking at home according to a specific task, such as an Italian 3-course menu with Tuscan wines or a dinner with an assortment of 15 tapas. Each menu was then extensively commented on and judged. When the group grew, we had hired the kitchen of a local sports club and the members were divided into alternating groups so that everyone could participate at least once every 3 weeks. Sometimes a professional Chef was called upon to teach or improve certain cooking techniques. Other activities included company visits, visits to early markets, trade fairs, chocolate workshops, cheese and wine tasting evenings, etc. Many of us were wine lovers and wine evenings were regularly organized with blind tastings.

Here in Hua Hin it is not always easy to find certain ingredients, but there is still enough available to prepare many fine dishes. Here you have many tasty types of fish at low prices. I have my fish filleted at the Chatchai market and sometimes at Makro. In Makro you also have a wide range of vegetables, fruit, fresh and frozen meat. There is also a decent range of cheeses. For amateurs of French cheeses, pizza and pie dough, pre-baked pizzas, tasty cold sauces and chocolate, it's best to go to the new Big C. They sell an assortment of the French brand Casino. Finally, we also mention Villa Market with a very extensive range of international products, but usually on the expensive side.

I regularly cook for a group of friends and this gives me great satisfaction, but I would have liked to start an amateur cooking club in Hua Hin. In the first phase I thought I would start with a small group of enthusiastic Flemish and Dutch people, to possibly expand later to a more international group to exchange more multicultural culinary experiences.

Is cooking also your passion, are you living in Hua Hin-se and surroundings and are you excited to participate? Then send an email to [email protected]

Robert
