Looking for a special eatery in Bangkok? From intimate living room to farm restaurant. Also for cats and nature lovers.

1. Nang Gin Kui or Private Dining

This is the brainchild of an Australian architect and designer and his Thai wife Goy. In December 2011, they opened a living room restaurant in their apartment on the 14th floor of an apartment building overlooking the Chao Praya. Friends and strangers are welcome to enjoy a 7-course menu from Goy. Tel. 085-904-6996, facebook.com/nang.gin.kui

2. Bankampu Tropical Cafe

A restaurant, located in the middle of trees, plants and shrubs. Not a few shabby flowerpots, but 4 rai crammed with exotic and rare plants. The freshly brewed coffee costs 70 to 90 baht, so that should be enough, as well as tea, salads (125 bht) and spaghetti (125 bht). Bankampu is an initiative of the now 70-year-old Surath Vanno, a man with a green thumb. Tel. 02-946-7223; 02-946-6016.

3. Chico Interior Products & Cafe

The brainchild of a Japanese interior designer. Ten cats roam around the café, so cat lovers should feel at home. Touching is allowed. The menu offers drinks, desserts, milkshakes and light lunches. Tel. 02-258-6557, www.chico.co.th.

4 + 5. The Block

The bloc is a neighborhood shopping center in Thon Buri where all the shops are shaped like a shipping container, houses two eateries: Think Cafe and Tree Box Restaurant. Architect and owner Apichart Wongkitikamjohn explains the different architecture with 'I like to make things that people least expect'. The Bloc, Ratchaphruek Road, no phone number, facebook.com/treeboxthailand.

6. Deck Liang Kae Farm & Restaurant

Like the next two eateries, this is a farm restaurant with sheep, chickens, ducks and rabbits. There are karaoke rooms and you can buy toy animals. As in Sheep Village (number 7), Thai cuisine is served with Hong Kong-style stewed beef and Spicy yen ta fo as a specialty. Tel. 083-888-8765, facebook.com/dekliangkae.

7. Sheep Village in Thon Buri

Offers you a similar experience to the previous one with the added bonus of a river view. There are five karaoke rooms, a souvenir shop and plenty of chairs to sit outside. The menagerie is a bit more modest than number 6. Tel. 085-777-5544, facebook.com/sheepvillage2012.

8. Alpaca View

This is the largest of the three farm restaurants and also has the most animals: ducks, rabbits, birds, pigs, sheep, horses, cows and alpaca from Australia. You can eat both inside and outside. Cuisine mainly Thai. An ideal place for families with children who can not sit still. Tel. 081-406-6400, 081-884-1443, facebook.com/alpacaview.

Thanks, there were a few I didn't know.

The next time we are in Bangkok again, we will certainly use this information. Years ago I accidentally discovered a restaurant named “Once upon a time” located in Pratunam Bangkok whose owner is originally from Chiangmai. It has a beautiful garden, and the whole takes you back in time for a hundred years. The restaurant itself is located in a house that perfectly reflects the old Thailand in terms of Interior, and old photos. For someone who wants to enjoy cozy and romantic, very good Thai cuisine, this is highly recommended. Since we have been here for the first time, I regularly visit this restaurant with family and acquaintances, who, just like us, have come to the same good opinion. The best way to reach this restaurant is to take a taxi to Panthip Plaza (department store) on Petchaburi road, and from there cross the pedestrian bridge to get to soi 17 on the other side of the street. If you enter the soi 17, you will never come across Het Idee, which is about 150m on the right, to find this beautiful restaurant.

    Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330.
Really worth to have dinner or lunch once.
Is this the restaurant you mean or is he opening another restaurant soon.
