Good news for Thailand lovers. In the annual list of important island destinations in Southeast Asia, the TripIndex Island Sun 2013, Thailand scores exceptionally well. The island of Koh Pha Ngan is even the number 1 destination for anyone who wants a cheap holiday to paradise.

The list was compiled by TripAdvisor's response using data from the travel website such as the region's most searched islands and local experts.

The travel index is based on the combined costs for two people for an overnight stay in a four-star hotel, a two-course meal with coconut juice, beer, massage, bicycle rental and the rental of snorkeling equipment.

Koh Phangan emerged as the most affordable island for this total package. On the island you only pay 7.322,50 baht. Converted about 173 euros. Koh Tao, known for diving and snorkeling, came in second with 7.766,89 baht and Indonesia's Gili Trawangan in third place with a cost of 8.107,71 baht. The cheapest Thai islands are close to Koh Samui, which ranks ninth.

There were four more Thai islands in the top 20: Koh Chang in fourth place (8737,41 baht) Koh Lanta in eighth place (9.961,75 baht) Koh Samui in ninth place (10.082,54 baht) and Phi Phi Don placed 13th (11.917,48).

The Singaporean Sentosa Island is on the list as the most expensive island (26.815,17 baht), which is 635 euros. More than 462 euros more expensive than Koh Pha Ngan in Thailand.

It will undoubtedly become much busier on Koh Phan Ngan as a result. There are also advanced plans for an airport. Then this beautiful island goes in the same direction as Koh Samui. Shame….

    • Phangan says up

They are working on the airport but not really fast, at least 3 months ago when I last went to look, at this rate it will take a while I think.

The opening date of the airport has just been postponed (in Thai) but will eventually come, you can keep an eye on the progress here http://www.kohphanganairport.com/

Development is not always regression so let's remain optimistic.

900 baht for a massage for 2 on PhanNgan and 2600 baht on Samui?????
Those are ridiculous amounts. A traditional Thai massage costs 200 baht pp An oil massage
300 baht p.p. The other amounts mentioned are also ridiculous. There people really will
    not come on

Beats. Sleeping and eating can also be much cheaper. Maybe they'll get through
this overview less tourists to these islands, and that has
      again its advantages.

Dear Eric, Even cheaper and also much cheaper. I don't take this whole graph seriously because at least 4 islands on this list I see prices for which you don't have a 4 * hotel, because that's what this is about! Beer prices Philippines are also not correct! Cebu massages certainly not true. No, quickly the trash in Tripadvisor.
