Other "gourmet" products
After Gringo's story about the cherries, there are still a few other "surprising" and tasty non-Thai products for sale. First of all, the herring.
Now that the month of June has arrived, Jos told the fishmonger, the new herring will be for sale again in the Netherlands and Thailand halfway through this month. Not that the current herring is not good, on the contrary, but fresh is something else. The herring is now sold in his own new coffee shop/restaurant near the Big C Extra, Pattaya Central, in the narrow street of Soi PaNiet chang, diagonally opposite the parking garage. A large orange sign hangs outside: MAE TUI, mother Tui, his wife, well known to many Dutch people, runs the business.
While refueling on the way, I took a “Mocca Yen”, a kind of iced coffee, at an Amazon coffee shop on the way. Recognizable by the logo. Who sketches my surprise when I discovered real stroopwafels with further information. Funny thing is that the size is stated on the information, XL, 40 g, made in the Netherlands (photo above).
A new Amazon coffee shop has opened at the Floating Market on Sukhumvit Road and at various petrol stations along the way. I stocked up on a few packs for a nice appetite and for 25 Baht each you can't pass this up. I don't indulge in these products much, but every now and then it's quite nice.
interesting subject !
years ago I met a Dutchman in Ahuttaya who makes stroopwafels in Ahutthaya.

this retired Dutchman is married to a Thai and lives in Thailand with his wife and 2 sons.
this after first living and working together in the Netherlands.
his sons were born and raised in the Netherlands.
after his retirement he was bored and started this hobby, which is actually an extension of his career.
now he produces on a fairly large scale!
Nice to read another story about stroopwafels here.

I have also bought the 'sweet chew' stroopwafels from the photo above several times at an Amazon coffee shop, each time with a disappointing, tasteless result. Not worth the money and not exactly an advertisement for what could be a Dutch delicacy.
That is then a matter of taste. I often serve them with coffee and everyone loves them. I recently got stroopwafels from Nl. But according to everyone they are not inferior to this one.
Let's just say it's a difference of taste. I enjoy it every time!
There is a Dutch factory in Bangkok that makes stroopwafels. Just original recipe
The SME also includes Menno Kleisen, who makes or used to make stroopwafels, perhaps that is the same person.
True Coffee and Starbucks also have stroopwafels, are not unsavory. My Thai wife loves them.
They are for sale at central plaza at the bakery department, the taste is in no way inferior to the Dutch stroopwafel!!!!!
I would like to see herring in Chiang Mai.
De haring is volgens mij zeker te koop in Chiang Mai vraag maar eens aan wat Hollanders die daar wonen
I would like to see herring in korat
Dirk in Doi Saket verkoopt haringen en ook eigen gemaakte frikandellen, kroketten, bitterballen en ossenworst. [email protected]
Big C has stroopwafels and gingerbread, at least Big C in Udon Thani. Haring will soon be with Dutch people in Udon Thani and Chiang Mai. There are also entrepreneurs who deliver throughout Thailand and that costs a little extra for transport.
