Allowing a so-called COVID-19 extension was again extended until May 29. This means that immigration officers may allow an extension of the period of stay of 60 days instead of 30 days.

In principle, this means that you could stay until July 27. Price is the same ie 1900 Baht per renewal.

    Yes Ronnie,
Because the Corona vicissitudes in the Netherlands remain strict, I have postponed my flight by a month.
So I went to the immigration office here in Ubon for an extension and asked if I could stay a month longer?
No, but 2 months visa extension, haha. Th Bth 1900 , OK go ahead, done in 10 minutes.
    Welcome to Thailand.

And it will stay that way until May 29th. Any request made until that date will result in 60 days instead of. the normal 30 days. So if you go on May 29, you will get until July 27.
In principle, this only applies to tourist periods, but that can be decided differently locally…

I don't think there are any countries left, or with a few exceptions, perhaps no countries where a person residing in Thailand can no longer return to their country of origin due to Covid 19.
I think they want to use this rule to support those who still stay here a little bit, the tourist industry and the local economy.
After all, those who still stay here also spend money on accommodation and personal maintenance and other things.
And of course not to forget the greenhouse of the IMI ala 1900 bath.

    Jan Beute.

It is also no longer really intended for those stranded travelers because they can no longer return to their country. That's what the free extension was for, but it has been canceled since the end of September because in principle you could return if you really wanted to, perhaps with a few exceptions.
However, the normal extension of 30 days could then also be maintained and that would have made even more financial returns for IMI if that was the intention.

Now think of it more as for travelers who do not (yet) want to return due to the high degree of contamination or Corona measures in their country and prefer to stay in Thailand a little longer. And certain sectors in Thailand will benefit from this.

By the way, not only stranded travelers can enjoy it, also those who have arrived with a Tourist visa in recent months. PEER above is an example of this.
