The possibility of obtaining a so-called COVID-19 extension was again extended until March 25, 2022. This means that during that period immigration officers may allow an extension of the period of stay of 60 days instead of 30 days.

In principle, you could then stay until May 23, 22 if you still request the extension on March 25, 2022. Please note, because this extension takes effect on the day of application. Is actually not correct and should normally connect (that is why it is an extension), but that seems to be applied nationally for that COVID extension.

In contrast to other extensions, it is therefore better not to apply for this too quickly, unless your departure had to be covered by it, of course. Price is 1.900 Baht as with each renewal.

Just like last time, the reason for obtaining that extension has also been tightened up a bit. But at the moment there are still some ambiguities about this and they would be clarified by immigration tomorrow in a separate note or announcement.

So subject to:

– for example, foreigners who have entered Thailand with a Tourist visa should first apply for their regular 30 days if they want to stay longer. After that, it will only be considered whether they are still eligible for a COVID extension of 60 days.

– those arriving/staying here on a Non-immigrant basis can only obtain an extension as provided for in Police Order 327/2014.

In other words, these are the normal extension such as a year extension such as Retired. This means that they can only use that option to stay longer and be excluded from this COVID extension.

The normal extensions as meant by Police Order 327/2014 can be read here. Visa Extension – สำนักงานตรวจคนเข้าเมือง – Immigration Bureau

– There is no mention of the Visa Exemption, which applies to, among others, Dutch and Belgians. About the Visa On Arrival, but I will not go into further because this does not apply to Dutch and Belgians, among others.

Ultimately, it will also depend on the relevant IO how strictly this will be applied, but as soon as I read more information about the official side, I will let you know in a supplement to this TB Immigration Infobrief
