Reporter: Reint

Received my extension for Non-O in Ubon last Monday. However, my date for the 90 day notification remained unchanged due to my latest arrival stamp, which means that I must report for the residential address in January, two months after receiving my Non O.

Then report again a month later with bank book. This means 4 times for the 90 days and 4 times the bank book and the ninth time requesting an extension again. When I asked whether the 90 days could not be equal to the bank book, I was told that this is not possible. Yes, but you have now been able to see in that mountain of paperwork that I still live at the same address, no no sir, this is separate. Phew….

(I'm talking about notifications here, for extension and bankbook you have to go there, for the 90 days you could do it online)

    Hi Reint,
Also live in Ubon Ratchatani and faithfully visit the bank before I do the 90-day notification to update my bank book (800.000 THB) by taking some off.
It has never been asked during the 90-day notification, which of course does not mean that it will not be looked at at the renewal.
I feel the same as you and I totally agree with you that things are a mess, at least in Ubon Ratchathani anyway, and that immigration here lacks any kind of rational thinking. It is the rules, sir, on the understanding that the last of each rule is always important: Everyone can deviate from the rule and so we do.
And about that online 90-day notification: Worked for me once, about 1 years ago and never again. Yes, I know all the situations before you get to the 6st page and then you get the message that you have to contact the local immigration, and then it stops for me too.
But on the other hand, that online 90-day notification doesn't make much sense if you actually have to show an update of your bank book (so I've never asked for it)

    What a strange story!
I also come on Immigration in Ubon Ratchathani and I must say they are doing a great job there!
I think it's just a strange story, especially when it comes to showing the bank book.

When renewing my extension, like everyone else, I have to present my bank book and document from the bank. After that it is no longer necessary! And I only have to report every 90 days. (without showing anything).

The story of the residential address is also incorrect! After all, the owner of the home only needs to report when you are going to another province for a certain time (they would like you to come and say that in advance) or certainly report when you are back. This is not necessary for the rest and all this will be arranged in one go when you renew your extension.
So a story that doesn't make sense on all sides.
And be happy that the rules are strictly followed, otherwise you will have arbitrariness and that is the last thing we want, right?

      Johnny,
You misunderstood. The date of application non-o is in my case December 3rd and then report every 3 months with bank book. This will also be stapled in writing in your passport.

The 90 day notice is determined based on your last entry stamp,

These two do not coincide, so 4 times bank book and 4 times 90 days report, and new application non-o.

Actually it is checking the bankbook 3 times. After 3, 6, 9 months. On 12 you will be back with your new extension.

        So can be:
        1 time for renewal
4 times for 90 days notification (if not coincident with renewal)
3 times for checking bank amount.

        In the other case;
        1 extension
3 times for 90 days and check bank amount.

One of the requirements for a bank amount of 800 Baht is that it must still be in full 000 months after allocation. Afterwards you can drop to 3 Baht.
However, an immigration office is not required to check this and if they do, they are allowed to do so through local guidelines.
There are immigration offices that check that every three months. Others only three months after granting, others only at the next application for an annual extension.
I don't know how Ubon organizes that, but that one should show it and the other not?
Of course only necessary with retired renewals and when using the 800 Baht. Not with Thai marriage. Is there the difference?

      As for the residential address.
He is not wrong at all, because he is talking about the 90 day address notification. A confirmation of your permanent residence and the owner has nothing to do with that. This is an obligation of the foreigner who stays in Thailand for 90 days continuously. Just like you do.

However, you are talking about the TM30 message,
By the way, “(they would like you to say this in advance)” if you leave the province does not make sense. You don't have to report that. There are no regulations about this.
For example, someone who goes to Bangkok for a few days should not first report this to his immigration office.

"So a story that doesn't make sense on all sides." So tell me what is not right on all sides….

I received a note from Immigration upon my extension in February 2020 that clearly states that I must update the bankbook every three months with THB 800.000 in it and show it every three months. I once sent it to Ronny Lat Ya who had never seen it either.
As said before by me I faithfully do that before the 90-day notification but it has never been asked.
So don't immediately say that it's a strange story because it doesn't happen to you. At least I got that note.
And about that arbitrariness: Just read on this blog how differently the "rules" are interpreted by the immigration offices and sometimes even within the same immigration office, arbitrary enough.

      • RonnyLatYa says up

As I said, each immigration office organizes it in its own way.
There are immigration offices that check that every three months. Others only three months after granting, others only at the next application for an annual extension.

It is true that you only have to prove after the first three months after approval that there is still 800 Baht on it. Afterwards, less is allowed as long as it is not below 000 Baht. And of course you have to make sure that it is replenished in time for the next application.

I also recently completed my extension in Ubon on the basis of retirement / 800.000 baht on account. I don't have to come back for another year. I do my “90 days” via the internet and I assume that they will check whether there was sufficient balance at the next renewal.
But it may matter where it is applied for. I myself do it in the branch in the city of Ubon and not in the head office.

I was in Korat on Wednesday, no people waiting, hand in my passport, put in a new note and left again in a minute. Never have to take a bank book or something with you except with the extension.

  4. Bz says up

    Hello Reint,

If you make the 90-day notification via the Internet, you don't have to show anything at all, do you?

    Best regards. Bz
