Subject: Austrian Consulate – Pattaya

An income statement can still be obtained at the Austrian Consulate in Pattaya (and is still accepted by Thai immigration) for the extension based on “retirement”.

The Austrian consulate does not issue an income statement for the extension based on “Thai wife”, which I personally asked.

Reaction RonnyLatYa

That's what I've heard too.

Maybe there is also a good reason why he doesn't want to do that for a "Thai marriage", or maybe not.

– If it is a decision of immigration not to accept the letters from the Austrian consul in a “Thai marriage”, it is to his credit that he protects the applicants and does not ask for money for something that he knows will be refused anyway.

– If it is on his own initiative, then it is nonsense why he does not want to do it.

If he wants to provide a “Proof of Income”, then it is only his job to confirm an amount, the proof of which has been provided by the applications. Regardless of the amount and for what purpose it should be used, whether for “Retirement”, “Thai wedding”' or for whatever reason, ….

He has no say in that. Only immigration has that right.

I have had my income statement certified several times by the Austrian consul.
I show my annual tax statement and he writes a certificate.
I've never been asked what I needed this for.

And that's how it should be.

I cannot escape the impression that there is regular contact with the immigration police between the Austrian consul and vice consul (the Thai lady). I read earlier that there was no provision for married people, so if you indicate this, his or her cooperation in this will stop. On the other hand, you cannot avoid reporting this with the application. If you fail to do so, you will be left with an unusable document and then having to pay 4 euros for the simple A46 form, which would also be a shame.

It is likely that there is contact between the consulate and immigration. Nothing wrong with that by the way. Why would it?

However, I cannot think of any reason why the certificate from the Austrian Consulate is suitable when it concerns “Retirement”, but not when it concerns a “Thai marriage.”
Makes no sense anyway. Both are only about proof of income, nothing more, nothing less.

Well, apparently it is just the way it is, but I would still like to hear a sensible explanation about it.

Governments never or rarely provide a sensible explanation. Everywhere in the world, the government is free to do whatever it wants. The common citizen is a lackey.
