TB Immigration Info Letter 057/22: Proof of Austrian Consul income was not accepted

Reporter: Hank
Was at Immigration Pattaya this morning (October 19). The statement about my pension income by the Austrian Consul General was not accepted. Must provide a statement from own embassy.
I do not know whether the consulate itself is aware of this, because the statement was issued just yesterday. But it is not usable.
Note: “Reactions are very welcome on the subject, but limit yourself here to the subject of this “TB Immigration Infobrief. Immigration in Jomtien has previously refused an income statement through the Austrian consulate.
Yet this is not correct.
The Austrian consulate is authorized by the Dutch embassy to issue income statements.
I would just go to the consulate and report this
That the Austrian consulate is formally authorized by the Dutch Embassy - I highly doubt that, Danny.
The Embassy has control options on Dutch income and tax data that the Austrian Consul simply does not have. I can imagine that for that reason the Thai authorities refuse that statement.
I also collected this income statement from the Austrian embassy 2 months ago. And this one was just accepted.
In August my income statement from the Austrian consulate was still accepted. Probably due to the arbitrariness of the relevant Immigration officer.
I went to immigration in July with such an Austrian statement. Was then effortlessly accepted.
I have long wondered that an honorary consul could do and get accepted by Immigration …which an embassy refuses
What is the embassy refusing?
Two weeks ago, I arranged my year extension (visa OA) in Hua hin with the statement of the Austrian consul.
So every immigration office looks at this differently. Big kudos to immigr Hua hin
Immigration
A statement other than that of the Dutch embassy in Bangkok is absolutely not accepted by immigration in Prachin Buri. In fact, there has recently been a requirement that the signature of the Dutch embassy employee must be verified by the consular service of the Ministry of the Interior in Bangkok. Quite a hassle.
Have presented the problem to the Austrian consul in Pattaya, Mr. Rudolf Hofer
Just October 23, 2022 I received the following message:
Yesterday I talk with the Chef of the Section who is on duty with the Visa Section
He said it can only be a misunderstanding. The letter will be accepted.
In case of problems ask for Khun Somsak of the Immigration Dept
PS In some cases it can be possible that only the Dutch Embassy can do – for example-
change a Tourist Visa to Non O and the to a Retirement visa
Hope to have made my contribution (so don't panic!)
One can find at chief level in Pattaya that eea can be accepted, but whether you can rely on this at other emigration offices is very much the question …….
Ferdi, Dirk and others, you are at the mercy of an Immi official.
If the Austrian consul today, or tomorrow, or if the wind blows, or if it rains, is not enough, or if the consul is not competent for a Dutch income statement, you can do nothing about it. And next year he can look at it differently…..
