Reporter: Robert

Yesterday the stay of my 60 days Tourist visa, extended by 30 days at immigration in Jomtien. I was there in the afternoon at about 14.00pm. It was remarkably quiet. There were maybe 10 people in line ahead of me.

Once inside, the documents are checked. I had with me:

  • Completed application form TM7 with passport photo stuck on it.
  • Passport.
  • Copy of passport page with personal data.
  • Copy E-visa from the embassy in The Hague (tourist).
  • Copy passport page with arrival stamp.
  • Copy TM30 – Notification of arrival/stay.
  • 1900 baht.
  • So for the sake of clarity TM6 is NOT needed anymore!

Again a comment from the official who issues the serial numbers and first checks your documents. On the TM7 form I had to put my telephone number and a signature on all copies. Fortunately I had a pen with me, so I could do that on the spot (you can't borrow a pen from immigration).

A tip: make sure you always have a pen with you if you need to write something on the copies. Otherwise you can first go to 7-Eleven to buy a pen there and you can also join the back, a waste of time

Once I got my tracking number printed out it went fast. Was able to go to the counter almost immediately. We were told that there was a problem with the computer, so that I could collect my passport with stamp the next day. All in all, less than 10 minutes in. I can stay for another 30 days and that's what we'll do.

    What a difference…
The day before yesterday in Roi Et extended my Tourist period of stay.
Only one couple in front of me, that was waiting.
So I was immediately beckoned to the counter. And an extremely friendly man asked what I was doing.
I gave my passport and a passport photo.
The man made a copy of everything needed and marked where I had to sign.
I was looking for a good writing pen from the tray of pens that is ready for the customers.
While my papers were being examined by another friendly employee, the former began an apparently comical conversation with the two ladies who had come along.
Later she told me it was about getting married and having children.
Papers in order, so go inside to take the last photo and pay.
At that moment someone shouted, lunch time (12:00).
The female employee called back, no, I'm going to help these people first..

I get the impression that here in Roi Et, we are very lucky with the immigration police.
Or could it have something to do with our reputation here?

      Your reputation?
      Maybe.

You should compare if they get about 100 people over there every day and then see if they still do the same for you. Then it could be your reputation.

Now it seems more like the boredom of having something to do…. 😉
