TB Immigration Info Letter No. 026/24: Immigration Sri Racha – Problems with visa support letter
Reporter: French
I use the visa support letter to extend the duration of my retirement non O visa. I do this by post and pay the fees and postage via the bank account. My Immigration Office is Sri Racha.
When I submitted all documents, including the visa support letter sent, I was told that I had to hand in the original. I made it clear that I had attached what was sent to me by the embassy and that, if desired, I could provide proof of payment by me to the embassy for this document. After being checked by 3 people, it was accepted. The form appeared to be pre-printed. Stamp unclear.
I reported this via the Netherlands Worldwide contact form. Today I received a distressing response that clearly showed that the problem had not been understood. In any case, next time I will attach proof of payment as extra security.

I arranged everything through the Honorary Consul of Germany / Austria in Naklua-Pattaya.
No appointment necessary.
Brought:
1: passport
2: copy of annual SVB statement (AOW) and company pension from the previous year.
Together they account for more than the minimum income requirement.
They are considered better sources than bank statements.
Waited in line outside under cover for half an hour, then went inside and processed after about 15 minutes.
Cost: EUR 34,07 (THB 1.270).
Bring the original statement from the Consulate to Immigration-Jomtien, after which smooth processing will take place.
I don't quite get it, the visa support letter must have been legalized with the Thai legalization, right? Then there can't be any unclear stamps, right?
I have never had to have a support spouse visa legalized before.
Every “signature” from the embassy must be legalized. If an immigration office doesn't ask for it, you're in luck. Nonthaburi only does not accept embassy stamp.
I am the French person who experienced this. I also used to go to Jomtien with the document from the German Austrian consul from Pattaya. In Jomtien it apparently became too busy and I was referred to Sri Racha which is closer to my hometown. There I was told that their preference was for a document from my own embassy, hence the visa support letter. I have never been asked to legalize the signature, so don't add this without being asked.
Immigration Jomtien even recommended the consulate to me at the beginning of this year. I arranged it last March.
