Ref: TB Immigration Info Letter 057/22: Proof of income Austrian consul was not accepted | Thailand blog

The Austrian consul wrote to me on October 22 that his “letter” would still be accepted by Immigration Pattaya if I asked about Khun Somsak. That turned out to be incorrect.

Somsak also believes that a statement from the Austrian consulate cannot be used to obtain a Non-immigrant visa. This requires a statement from your own embassy and also stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

I understood that a statement from the Austrian consul can still be used for the extension of a retirement visa (a new extension of stay).

Dear Ronny, I am horrified to read that a statement from the Austrian consul is no longer accepted.
tar. What added value does the Austrian consulate have and why?
Isn't it an insult to the value of the consul? In November next I have to renew my NON O.
Instead of the income statement I have the needed more than 8T in the bank, longer than the
required term. The rest is a matter of copying and adding. Which bump(s) await me?
    Cock M. Brewer.

Austria simply does not appoint a consul in Pattaya to create 'added value' for non-Austrians…….

      1. The Austrian consul is primarily there for Austria and he therefore primarily works for Austria if you want to know his added value.
He is not just there to deliver income statements to you. Why would that be an insult to him?
The income statement he delivers for you is just an extra. Not for your blue eyes but because this brings in extra money for him.

      2. You can still request a Visa Support Letter from the Dutch embassy if you are denied it and you want to continue using that income. Moreover, you also have 8 tons in the bank that you can use. So what is your problem?

      3. As you can see at the top of the article, I am not the reporter of this either. I'm just posting that.
I'm not commenting on that either. One time someone says that it is accepted, the other time it is not. I'm not going to go along with that yes/no game and the reader has to draw their own conclusions
And if it is accepted… take advantage of it.

Applying for a letter of support at the Dutch embassy in Bangkok is a piece of cake. Go to the website of the embassy and read what is required. Send the documents by registered mail and you will receive the support letter within 5 days.
TYes, the fact that nowadays you are required to visit the foreign affairs consular office to verify signatures on the letter is annoying.

For 2 euros more it can even be requested by email.
You will then receive a copy by email and the official letter by post.

        Interesting, dear Josh M.
        But on https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/verklaring/visum-ondersteuningsbrief-thailand, https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/verklaring/thailand-verklaring-ondersteuningsbrief-qa en https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/consulaire-tarieven/thailand i can't find that.
Do you also have a written source for this information?

        • Josh M says up

          TheoB,
it is true that this is not on the site, but if you contact the embassy you will find that it is possible.
I've done this 2 times already.
Email me at jomel(at)chello.nl and I will forward the email I received from the embassy to you.

Dear readers, what Ronny now quotes is the truth
I already informed you about a year ago that the
Austrian consul his letters and statement would no longer be
Accepted at immigration .which also makes sense. You are Belgian or Dutch
Why else do we have our own embassy

For example, if you have lost your passport or have died, then you must
Still, don't go knocking on the door of the Austrian consul. Please think one
    Little sober

My suspicion is that many people are a little afraid that their
Embassy would find out that they are not the truth
    write down.

And earlier find the easiest way through the Austrian consul

    • fred says up

Indeed, the Austrian consul no longer does this for Belgians. For Dutch people it is, since the Dutch embassy issues a visa support letter, which the Belgian embassy does not do.
The Belgian embassy only legalizes your signature, but does not check the data. The Dutch embassy does.
So Dutch people can still go to the Austrian consulate, but Belgians cannot.
In my personal opinion, all this should have been settled a long time ago at European level. But yes, they are not quick to do something for the benefit of their citizens at the European Commission.

      • RonnyLatYa says up

        Strange thinking….

Because the Dutch Embassy issues a visa support letter in which the data has been checked, the Austrian Consul is also allowed to issue that income statement to Dutch citizens.
And what did that Consul check or could check with those Dutch people for accuracy?

  4. Jos says up

I am Dutch, this morning I obtained my non-immigrant-O year extension with the document from the Austrian consul.

  5. Cornelis says up

The issue is not whether or not you can go to the Austrian Embassy, but whether Immigration accepts the statement in question. The Austrian Consul does not have the control option that the Dutch Embassy has with regard to Income and tax data. In that light, it is not illogical that such a statement should not be accepted.
Regulating this at European level would mean that access to the data of all EU citizens would also be provided at European level. Then we scream bloody murder about the loss of privacy ……
I don't understand why applying for the Visa Support Letter would be so difficult or complicated. It is – others have already written it – a piece of cake.

The above is a response to Fred's text.
