Hua Hin - Khao Takiab

Wintering is almost over. Tomorrow we leave by train to Bangkok and on Tuesday we fly with EVA Air to Amsterdam. The three months have literally flown by.

It was an unforgettable experience and definitely worth repeating. Both my girlfriend and I have grown to love Hua Hin more and more. The way Songkran was celebrated here is typical of this seaside resort: modest and respectful.

There are many things that I will miss in the near future, the most important:

  • waking up to a bright sun in the sky;
  • the cozy bungalow where we stayed;
  • the daily rides on the motorbike, to the center, the market and 7-Eleven;
  • all the delicious fresh fruit, mango, mangosteen, pineapple and watermelon. Kilos went through it weekly;
  • the beautiful (unknown to me) wide one beaches which I discovered in the Hua Hin area;
  • the exquisite Thai food, curries, fresh fish, som-tam, noodle soup and many more goodies;
  • the adventurous mountain bike tours with Jos Klumper through the hills of Hua Hin;
  • the ice-cold coconut that I bought almost every day for € 0,25, to quench my insatiable thirst;
  • the two dogs on our Moo Baan that we gave treats every day;
  • the beautiful Thai ladies, in all shapes and sizes, sometimes smiling kindly at this farang;
  • and of course the unmistakable Thai smile.

In any case, I have gained enough inspiration for new stories. Dozens of notes and scraps go with me and form the basis for many new postings on Thailandblog.

My special thanks to: Hans Bos, Pim Hoonhout, Alex Binnekamp (the article will follow), Jos Klumper and Matthieu & Andre from AA Insurance brokers. I enjoyed the hospitality and the many wonderful stories. You are excellent ambassadors for it Thailand.

Hua Hin I will miss you, hope to see you soon next time…

    Kan and Khun Peter.
    We are pleased to know that you had such a good time.
    It is a pity that the 3rd floating market has not yet opened, but we will keep you informed.
    Next time I'll put you behind the wheel of a car so you can experience it too.
    Have a good trip and hope to see you soon.
    Pim-Keawjai and the family will continue to follow you.

    • We hibernated for 2 months, December and January. Of course enjoyed. Have a look at our blog: http://www.mauke-henk.blogspot.com
      Chiang Mai was our base. We can recommend a stay there to everyone. Our Guesthouse was fab. Awana House we are coming back.

    Well Peter,

    That's why I like living in Hua Hin because Hua Hin has everything in moderation.
    It has large supermarkets and wonderful restaurants.
    Only on weekends it is often impossible to get through by car, due to the many people from Bangkok.
    I may have seen you, but can't remember your face, as I'm also a good friend of Alex's, who is indeed hospitable.
    So it was a pity not to be at his party last April, because I have been in Udon Thanie (Ban Namphon) since March 15th.
    Glad to come back to Hua Hin and see my friends again.
    Next time I will make more intensive contact with you, so that you are welcome in my house when I throw a party…
    So see you in Hua Hin next time….

    Great to hear that you had a great time, it will be disappointing here because the weather looks like autumn! Will there be any more photos to see?

    Peculiar reaction Jeroen.
    What's different then?
    I have been coming there for years, and I still find it a very pleasant city to stay in as Farang.
