Bangkok is no longer the most visited city in the world. The Thai capital has to give up the first place to London. This is evident from the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index.

Nearly 18,7 million people from outside the UK visited London last year. This makes it the most visited city in the world. Second and third place are occupied by Bangkok (more than 16,4 million visitors) and Paris (more than 15,5 million passengers).

In 2013, Bangkok was still in first place with more than 18,4 million visitors. Last year, the city saw visitor numbers fall by 11 percent. According to the report, this is due to the political tensions in the country.

Amsterdam is in twelfth place with more than 7,2 international visitors. The Peruvian capital Lima closes the top 5,1 with more than 20 million international visitors.

Top 10 most visited cities according to MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index

  1. London – 18.69 million

Most visitors will only visit Bangkok once, although it is a fascinating city, with a different culture than what we Westerners are used to. Paris and London are visited by the same people several times, I think. Anyway, I love these cities .
