This Saturday, one can once again observe the rare 'smiling moon' phenomenon in Thailand.

The crescent moon, which looks like a smile, in combination with the position of Venus and Jupiter, which look like the eyes, gives you the impression that you are being smiled at from heaven.

This phenomenon will now be seen in Thailand between 19.00:21.30 PM and 20:XNUMX PM this Saturday, June XNUMX.

The 'smiling moon' was also seen in Thailand in 2008, someone made the video below

I had actually never heard of that. Too bad I'm not here, I would have loved to see it, especially in the Land Of Smiles.
I've been thinking for a while why this phenomenon can never be seen in the Netherlands, and I think that's because the Netherlands is too far (more than 50°) from the equator. Thailand only 6 to 20°.
Because the moon rotates in more or less the same orbital plane as the earth, a waxing moon in the Netherlands is always lit obliquely, so that even with such a conjunction, the association with a smiling face will not easily be made.
But please hear my explanation for a better one, if there is one.

Frans, Google “Smiling Moon” and you will find some websites. from NASA, among others, who will explain the phenomenon to you as clearly as possible.

I've read them, but I really don't get it, but that doesn't mean anything of course!
