The Loy Krathong Festival 2023 is celebrated throughout Thailand. This festival, which coincides with the full moon of the twelfth month of the Thai lunar calendar, is one of the most beloved and visually impressive annual events in Thailand. This year it will take place on Monday, November 27.

During Loy Krathong, people gather at lakes, rivers, canals and beaches in the evening to participate in the festivities and pay tribute to the goddess of water. There are several notable Loy Krathong celebrations this year, including:

  • The Loy Krathong and Candle Festival, which takes place from November 18 to 27 at Sukhothai Historical Park in Sukhothai Province;
  • The Yi Peng Festival, celebrated from November 26 to 28 in and around the Chiang Mai city limits in Chiang Mai province;
  • Somma Nam Khuen Peng Seng Prathip in Mueang Roi Et, held on November 26 and 27 at Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Park in Roi Et;
  • The Pattaya Loy Krathong Festival, on November 27 at Central Pattaya Beach in Chon Buri;
  • The Samui Loy Krathong Festival, also on November 27, at Wat Khongkharam and Chaweng Lake on Ko Samui in Surat Thani;
  • The Bangkok Loy Krathong Festival, which takes place from November 24 to December 3 at the Yodpiman Flower Market and Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem, and on November 27 at Rama VIII Bridge and Wat Arun;
  • The Krabi Loy Krathong Festival, on November 27 in Ao Nang and Thara Park in Krabi;
  • The Ayutthaya Loy Krathong Festival, scheduled for November 26 and 27 in Watsamruan, Ayutthaya.
