In view of Sunthorn Day on June 26, it is a good idea to visit Phra Sunthorn Phu Memorial Park in Klaeng district of Rayon province.

The park is dedicated to Thailand's most famous poet, who was born 235 years ago. Sunthorn Phu has already been discussed on this blog, you can read it again at  www.thailandblog.nl/cultuur/de-thaise-dichter-phra-sunthorn-vohara

Karnjana Karnnajata, a journalist from Bangkok Post, recently published a report of a trip to that park. Because a whole day in that park is a bit much, he also visited a number of attractions on the way there, so that it became a varied day trip.

He started with a visit to the Botanical Gardens in tambon Chak Pong, then had lunch in Laem Mae Phim and then tasted the atmosphere associated with the thought of a poet's life from a bygone era. On the way back, we stopped by one of the many fruit orchards in the area to buy mangosteen and longkong with which he concluded his day trip.

All in all a nice and informative article with beautiful pictures, which you can find at: www.bangkokpost.com/
