The sixth trade talks with China will take place in Bangkok on Friday, August 24. On the agenda are trade, investment and economic cooperation, which will be discussed at the Government House in Bangkok.

The “One Belt, one Road” or the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st century MaritimeSilk Road are discussed, in which economic cooperation is the goal.

The meeting is co-chaired by Thai Vice Prime Minister SomkidJatusripitak and Chinese State Councilor Wang Yong. More than 300 Chinese investors will be present representing 40-50 major companies.

China is Thailand's largest trading partner and still has sufficient potential to grow. Thailand is also looking at secondary markets such as Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an and Qingdao in Northwest China. The deputy prime minister for economic affairs, Somkid, is hopeful that Thailand can double its two-way trade with China from more than USD 73 billion to USD 140 billion in two years.

Here too, the unfounded optimism is striking, which is also reflected in the tourist sector. Count yourself rich without wondering whether all the preconditions, such as the infrastructure, are already in order (see the posting “Biggest plans in East Thailand the Eastern Economic Corridor").
