Facebook has acquired the broadcasting rights of the English Premier League for the 200-8,78 season with an investment of no less than 2019 million pounds (2020 billion baht). Facebook plans to broadcast in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

According to media analysts, this purchase will change the entire industry in Thailand for digital and pay TV in the near future. They therefore expect Facebook to become a major competitor of operators of digital TV and pay TV. Not only Facebook, but also search giant Google will probably use YouTube as a TV broadcaster. Such initiatives threaten the survival of the Thai media industry.

BeIN Sports now has the exclusive rights to broadcast English Premier League football matches. TrueVisions has obtained an exclusive sublicense from BeIN Sports to broadcast in Thailand for three years starting in 2016.
