In two weeks the Jaarbeurs will be transformed into the Vakantiebeurs again. For the fiftieth time now. In the half century that lies behind us, millions of people traveled to Utrecht to be inspired by the latest travel trends, the best holiday tips and the newest holiday destinations at the Vakantiebeurs. Vakantiebeurs celebrates, together with guest destination Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates.

The fiftieth anniversary of Vakantiebeurs has not gone unnoticed. Especially for this jubilee edition, a festival tent will be set up between hall 7 and hall 12 where 50 years of Vakantiebeurs will be celebrated in the atmosphere of well-known international parties such as Brazilian Carnival, St. Patrick's Day and Chinese New Year. With dragon dance, a kung fu show, samba dancers and a travel pub quiz. In short: entertainment guaranteed. The exhibition days will be concluded in the festival tent with live entertainment by acts such as cover band Broadway and Piano & Co. Golden balloons pop up every day during the Vakantiebeurs, entitling to great prizes.

Undiscovered gem as a guest destination

The 50th edition is celebrated with a guest destination: Ras al Khaimah. This has not been the case in the past three editions. With the Emirate of Ras al Khaimah, a tradition has been restored. Ras al Khaimah is an undiscovered gem in the Middle East; beautiful beaches, desert, mangroves and impressive mountains come together here.

Nineteen world terraces, fourteen theatres

The characteristic worlds at Vakantiebeurs are returning. From Distant Destinations in Halls 11 and 12 (including Thailand) to Southern Europe & The Mediterranean in Halls 7 and 8, and Central & Western Europe in Halls 9 and 10. As well as the themed routes for children and active cycling and hiking travelers. This edition, visitors can feast on destination-related delicacies on no less than nineteen world terraces – from the USA Café to the Caribbean Village and from the Austrian Bierstube to the Bella Italia Terrace. Travel organizations and tourist offices provide inspiring destination and travel presentations in fourteen theatres.

Vakantiebeurs 2020 is traditionally characterized by personal contact between visitors and locals, experts from travel organizations and travel influencers. For advice, 'secret' spots and the best tips. Especially for families with children, because they also get their money's worth. For example, a kids zone will be set up, there will be the possibility of sailing and supping in a water tank, a Ferris wheel and a climbing wall will be installed, visitors will be able to race in F1 simulators and TUI will introduce an escape room.

Vakantiebeurs attracts more than 100.000 visitors to Utrecht every year. The 2020 edition will take place from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 January.
