Agenda: Candle festival in Thailand
In Thailand you can see the candle festival in various places in the coming period. The traditional candle festival heralds the start of Buddhist Lent.
The Thai Tourist Board (TAT) invites travelers to celebrate Buddhist Lent. For the monks in Thailand, a period of retreat and reflection begins. During this period, the monks retire to their temple. Buddhist Lent, or Khao Phansa, lasts three months.
Ceremonies are organized in several places in the country, accompanied by a special candle procession, cultural performances and music. If you are in Thailand in July, it is definitely worth visiting the candle festival, which can be done here:
- International Wax Candle Festival and Wax Candle Procession, Hung Si Mueang – Ubon Ratchathani from July 11-14.
- Korat Candle Festival from July 11-13 at the Tao Suranaree Monument un Nakhon Ratchasima.
- Candle Procession and Elephant Back Merit Making from July 10-11 at the Monument of Phaya Surin Phakdi Sri Narong Changwang in Surin.
- Tak Bat Dok Mai and Royal Candle Festival from July 11-13 at Wat Phra Phutthabat, Khun Khlon sub-district in Saraburi.
- Aquatic Phantom Festival on July 11 at Khlong Lat Chado, Phak Hai in Ayutthaya.
- Pattaya Candle Festival from July 9-10 at Beach Road in Pattaya.
- Suphan Buri Candle Festival from July 11-13 at the Wat Pa Wat Pa Lelai Woraviharain in Suphab Buri.
