A memorial service will be held in Kanchanaburi on Monday 15 August. On this day we commemorate the victims who died during the construction of the Burma-Siam railway during World War II, including many Dutch people.

During the memorial service, the honorary cemeteries of Don Ruk and Chungkai are visited. The program will include an opening speech by mr. Beattie, research director of Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, a speech by Ambassador Hartogh and a joint wreath-laying by NVT, NTCC, MKB Thailand and the embassy.

Registration for participation is possible until Wednesday 10 August via the following e-mail address: [email protected]. The embassy will not arrange transport and lunch for the participants. Participants must therefore come to Kanchanaburi on their own. See the full program here.
