Agenda: Bo Sang Umbrella Festival (video)
A wonderfully colorful party is the Umbrella Festival in Bo Sang. Bo Sang is a village near Chiang Mai.
The three-day event fills the city streets with hundreds of beautifully decorated lanterns and umbrellas. The festival begins with a parade on Friday, January 15 and continues through Sunday, January 17.
In addition to the colorful parades with umbrellas, there are also competitions, food festivals and live bands. Enough to entertain you in a festive atmosphere.
The handmade and beautifully painted umbrellas and parasols in Bo Sang village are known throughout Thailand and even abroad. They are so well known that the umbrella has become one of the symbols of Chiang Mai. Here you will find numerous hand-painted parasols in all shapes and sizes. You will also find large parasols for gardens or terraces and other handmade products. They are all made of sa paper. They are available in different designs and at reasonable prices.

BoSang is not only there for the beautiful umbrellas , you can also buy beautiful fans in many sizes .
In the past I even had fans painted there to my own design a few times.
BoSang is located on the old road from Chiangmai to SanKampeang.
From the Nawarath bridge head east and straight ahead, crossing the Lamphun Chiangmai super highway.
After about 10 to 15 km turn left at a busy intersection and you 're there .
The town is not that big and there is little to do, mostly visited by tourists in coaches.
I come here a few times a year in transit to Doi Saket.
