Green Wood Travel, the Dutch tour operator in Bangkok, has added a few striking short trips to its already rich offer. One thing immediately becomes clear: it doesn't get much nicer.

Lovers of the sea, snorkeling and diving will undoubtedly have the Similan and Surin Islands in Thailand high on their wish list. Justifiably. The Andaman Sea has crystal clear water there, is full of colorful fish and beautiful coral reef. There is much to see, from clownfish (Nemo) and turtles to sharks and barracudas. But the decor of wild rocks and jungle afforestation is also impressive.

'It's like swimming in a large aquarium', writes one of the travelers in a review, 'fish of all colors, shapes and sizes meet you, even the islands you visit are a feast for the eyes.' National Geographic ranks the islands among the top ten places for snorkeling and diving in the world! It is not surprising that the islands now belong to a protected nature park.

Green Wood Travel now offers three new tours: 'The unforgettable Similan Islands' (An day trip from Phuket or 3 days of snorkeling and swimming, including accommodation in a tent or simple bungalow) and 'Highlight: Camping on the Surin Islands' (3 days of snorkeling and swimming, with a visit to a Moken sea nomad village and a jungle hike for the most beautiful sunset views).

The Similan Islands National Park is a group of nine islands in the Andaman Sea, about 55 kilometers west of Khao Lak. Most are uninhabited, except Koh Similan and Koh Miang. The Surin Islands were also uninhabited for a long time. Only itinerant Moken lived there. Surin was mainly the domain of flying squirrels, sea eagles, lizards and monkeys. Imagine: all those sounds of birds and other animals that you hear at night while you are lying in your tent, tired from a beautiful day of snorkeling.

Surin islands are a new destination from October 2017. For a good two hundred euros you can stay three days on a tropical paradise island group. I haven't been here myself yet, but that will change 🙂

    Dear,

I've been to the similan islands (and spent the night), breathtakingly beautiful.

As far as I understood the Surin Islands were closed all year for tourism.
To protect nature. It was too busy…

Does this mean that they have recently reopened for tourism???

    Yours faithfully,

    Merry Volkers

Surin national marine park, and therefore the islands, have always had the same opening hours as similans: October 15 to May 15.

Sorry, I'm wrong about the Tachai natives.
