The sense of justice of some Thai women

As a regular visitor to Thailand, you know that making contact with a beautiful, sexy and willing Thai lady is not difficult. For example, you dive into the nightlife, drink a beer, talk to one or more ladies and you can have a nice evening, which can even last until the next morning in your hotel room.

Standard conversation

The conversation with your favorite lady of that evening is often superficial: “what's your name”, where are you from”, how long are you staying”, “in which hotel are you staying?”. You too ask her similar questions and will undoubtedly hear her name, where she comes from. No, not married, but a child cared for by her mother somewhere far away. By the way, she has only been working in her current job for three months!

Truth

Whether you tell the truth about your background is not really important, because you don't know about her story either. Nevertheless, a nice, perhaps short, relationship can arise in this way. You meet her more often in the bar and you have the holiday of a lifetime.

Golden rule

During the time you meet her, whether alone in the bar or together at a restaurant or disco, there is a golden, if unwritten rule: that lady is yours and nobody else's. That rule will continue to apply if you visit the same bar again on your next holiday. No other lady will try to hook up with you, because that means a fight with sometimes dramatic consequences for the lady who tries to win you over.

Dissolute

Perhaps you yourself are a bit dissolute and not so monotonous. Also visits other bars and if it suits you, invite another lady for the night. If your former girlfriend finds out somehow (the tam tam in the nightlife works just fine) then you're in for a mess. No, not with you, because you are the victim, the anger focuses on the lady who takes a man from another lady or commits adultery with it.

News

I was reminded of this line when I read a news report on the Sanook website about an incident in Chiang Mai. A 27-year-old Thai woman, married to a 35-year-old man, suspects that her husband is cheating. She follows him and indeed the man enters a “short time” hotel with a 19-year-old girl. The married woman makes a fuss in the hotel, knocks on the room where the young lady of 19 opens the door. First cursing, after which a fight starts and the young lady is hit by a bullet from a .308 pistol belonging to the wife.

Fortunately not fatal, but in a matter like this, a fatal accident is not uncommon in Thailand. And the guy? It is – at least for now – not to blame. He is kind enough to immediately warn the police and emergency service.

A good example that the sense of justice of some Thai women is different than you think!

Under the heading 'Golden Rule' it says: 'that lady is yours and no one else'.
Presumably the writer means exactly the opposite: the ladies in the nightlife are never exclusively yours, but belong to anyone who is willing to pay. You, on the other hand, are indeed exclusive to her during that period and any girl who tries something can get the wind. And not only the wind, but also knives, broken glasses and stiletto heels if they get a chance.

The man is not to blame? In that context, it might be nice to know that Thai women are notorious for cutting off the penises of unfaithful partners. It seems to be so common that Thai neurosurgeons are brilliant at restoring those severed organs.

A .308 pistol ?? Never heard of it while I have been a member of a shooting club for over 37 years. That's a rifle cartridge, never goes in a pistol.

Think writer meant a .38 special cartridge? After all, it is cheaper than a .357 magnum cartridge. And indeed a .308 is a rifle cartridge, but I would not want to be hit by any of these 3 calibers. Nor by any other caliber haha. But I think that a stiletto heel is also quite can cause damage and sometimes even be deadly. Also watch out with women who carry a knife and balloons in their handbag. I think it would be less advisable to cheat…

This week in the Dutch news: woman learns that girlfriend is doing it with her husband, took revenge on her best friend by shaving her bald and putting sambal in a place where that must guarantee hellish pain. The man and woman are still together. The demand from justice is something like 16 months in prison.

So 'leave that Thai out, some women are capable of inflicting serious injury on their husband's mistress. And it seems that sometimes man A hits man B when mister comes home early and finds a naked man in the bedroom closet…

I also heard that in the Netherlands you can also arrange an escort or prostitute without much effort. So Dutch women are just as willing as their Thai counterparts?

And suppose, theoretically speaking, because that does not happen, of course, that Gringo's wife has a bit of an affair with another man. I'm pretty sure Gringo is very sad, but also very angry with that man. What he does with that anger is another story. I strongly suspect that the emotions of Thai and Dutch men and women are not much different in these situations. From indifference to extreme anger and revenge.

      • John Chiang Rai says up

Dear Tino Kuis, That Gringo or another Farang would react angry and sad just like a Thai woman is certainly a fact.
Still, I believe that especially with a barmaid in the beginning of a relationship, the financial loss will be the biggest motivator of her grief, anger and revenge.
While the anger, sadness and possible revenge feelings of Gringo and another Farang will consist more of the already existing deeper feelings and a damaged male pride.

It's not about the wide range of reactions, from indifference to anger. What matters in a culture, a country, is HOW MANY people respond in one way or another. As an expat you have to take that into consideration. And so don't be surprised (or prepare yourself for it) that Thai women or men RULELY react DIFFERENTly than the Dutch.
After living in Thailand for 10 years, I am pretty sure that the reactions on an aggregated level differ significantly when it comes to 'cheating'. Also about the relationship. I received death threats from my Thai ex and – 'oddly enough' – some of my Western colleagues as well. Also not an unusual reaction among Thais if I can believe the TV. In the Netherlands, where I have lived for more than 50 years, I have never heard of it, let alone experienced it myself. It undoubtedly occurs but NOT to the extent as in Thailand. That is like a pole above water for me.

I was never threatened by my Thai ex-girlfriends after I broke up with them, they felt sorry and were sad but fully understood my motives, on the other hand, I experienced things differently with my Dutch ex-girlfriends, although not threatened with death was not too tidy verbally, moreover, part of my household goods had to suffer, including some expensive electronics and with one I was only glad that my car was not in front of the door.

So for the record, I have not cheated on both the Thai and Dutch, but have broken up all those times in an honest open conversation because I simply saw no future in the relationship due to various arguments.

Have been in a steady relationship with a Thai for over twelve years now, am very happy with her.

          ฺDear Chris,

          Quote:

'…that Thai women or men REALLY react DIFFERENTLY than the Dutch.'

Yes, I think extreme reactions, non-verbal, verbal abuse and suicide are more common in Thailand. How much more often I don't know, maybe 2-3 times as often. But that is an exception for a small percentage, perhaps between 1 and 3 percent.

But I think that AS A RULE, the other over 95 percent 'common' reaction like pain, sadness and anger and almost equally common in both countries.

          Don't make exceptions the rule.

During the standard conversation you already get an impression from the quality of her English how long she has actually been working in the nightlife.
A female who says she has been working in the nightlife for a short time also speaks English very sparingly in most cases.
Furthermore, many of her seemingly superficial questions have a system in place, so that even with the simplest questions she gets exactly the impression she needs.
For example, the question of which hotel you live in usually gives her an impression of what financial options you have, and whether barmaid visits are allowed at all in the hotel in question.
When asked how long you will stay in Thailand, she can usually calculate her possible earnings, so that you will become increasingly interesting for her with a long stay.
Should another barmaid also show Interest to you, the jealousy consists at most in the fact that she sees her financial existence in danger, while the farang is played that she only reacts this way because she is so in love.
And this last scene complete with heartbreaking tears is played out exactly as if the Farang were to commit adultery in her eyes.
If her financial existence is in danger, it can suddenly happen that the Farang doesn't know his little sweet smiling wife who seemed so innocent anymore.

    Cees, just looked it up.
There is a single shot pistol on the market that can shoot .223 or .308.
    Fiercely.
And as impure as hell, a muzzle flame of a meter or two and a return and storage equal to a donkey's kick.

    • endorphin says up

And that's why they go hunting with it for sure. Is a precision weapon, which can not be wielded by everyone.

    • Dear HansNL, the chance that someone has such a single-shot pistol will be small, they are quite rare. Caliber point 308 is mainly ammunition for a (shot) rifle or an AR-10 or AR-15. They are available in Thailand, but then it's a crazy story because with an AR you don't just walk into a hotel unseen.
Anyway, it must have been just a 9mm pistol….

It has nothing to do with a sense of justice, but everything to do with loss of face.
