7-Eleven just keeps growing

As a visitor or resident of Pattaya it is practically impossible to walk down a main street or even a side street without at least once seeing the familiar green/red mark of a 7-Eleven store.

And, as if it weren't enough, CP All plc, the organization responsible for the 7-Eleven manages stores, announced that significant investments will be made in new 2013-Elevens in 7 in order to face the active competition.

Competition

The main rivals for the 7-Elevens are primarily the ubiquitous Family Mart, mini Big C and the Tesco-Lotus Express outlets. In Pattaya, for example, you will see five 7-Elevens, a few Family Marts, a mini Big C and even a few Texo-Lotus Express stores in Soi Buakhow, all over a distance of about two kilometers.

Future

Members of the Thai Capital Retailers Association (an umbrella body for smaller retailers) believe there are three main factors that will have a positive impact on smaller retailers:

  • In the first place is the legal increase of the minimum wage to 300 Baht per day in Thailand, which will increase the purchasing power of the lowest earning workers.
  • The implementation of the AEC in 2015, which is expected to attract more foreign investors to Thailand.
  • The flow of foreign tourists will continue to increase.

More supermarkets

The same organization believes that as many as 2013 new supermarket stores will open in 1000, whether from 7-Eleven or from Family Mart, Tesco-Lotus Express or mini Big C. That is quite an increase compared to previous years, when between 700 and 800 branches were opened annually. It is expected that 7-Eleven will have a share of more than 1000% in those 50 branches to be opened.

Distribution

To manage the distribution of goods to all those 7-Eleven locations, 7-Eleven will build two new distribution centers, one on a 100 rai plot in Samut Sakhon and the other on a 50 rai plot in Chonburi province. Distribution in an organization like 7-Eleven is vital and the logistical tasks of such a distribution center should certainly not be underestimated.

Assortment

In general, the range of 7-Elevens can be said to be reasonably comparable according to certain internal standards. An important new objective for the 7-Eleven organization will be to adapt the assortment in important tourist places, such as Pattaya, more to those foreign visitors. In many 7-Eleven establishments one will soon find more foreign products for the convenience of the tourist.

Gringo, you're talking about two miles. They are sometimes right next to each other
and opposite each other. And then all open 24 hours a day. Even more. Who thinks up such a thing. You must be a very intelligent businessman.
An eyewear store was opened in my village Bangsare. Would you think in that village that is enough. No, two months later another one came. Right next to it.
So all bee (sorry for the word) don't give a fuck. That's real business.

@ J.Jordaan that is typical Thai. I've already written something about it. At the fair in Hua Hin I saw 7 exactly the same attractions next to each other. The kind of tent where you can throw darts at balloons.

        Khan Peter,

you would also call it typically Dutch? can mention, in every shopping street an abundance of clothing stores, next to each other, and shoe stores, etc. But not such an old-fashioned neighborhood shop as what 7 Eleven actually is, the range is very limited, and not the cheapest, but for many of us if Tesco-Lotus is not close by (often cheaper) very easy.
Assumption, but that may be wrong, that the 7 Eleven is a franchise chain ?.

      J.Jpordaan,

must make a story of it, otherwise it will not be posted by the moderator, because it could be too short, two opticians business in a village without/few customers, or all residents of the village must have a problem? money laundering.

They are damn handy shops. And always nearby – open 24 hours, fantastic. Have everything you need or sometimes miss on a daily basis. Too bad we don't have something like this in NL.

http://www.openingstijden.nl many manned petrol stations are open 24 hours a day, the more famous supermarket chain until 22.00:XNUMX pm

Will not be possible in the Netherlands, just too expensive, even though employees are underpaid here, even if the salary is higher than what a Thai employee will earn in his country.
Perhaps what some entrepreneurs in the Netherlands would like too many hours and little salary.

    Dear readers,

Short story about the number 7/11….
We agreed that we would walk from Jomtien to soi Buakhow (the Tuesday market) and then have a beer at any 7-eleven on the left side of the road…

We did not make it to the market…………………………..

    Greetings from Joop & Nicolien
