Is Thailandblog a men's blog?

It's nice that a woman is now also grabbing the pen, writes Paul under Maria's Diary. That comment got me thinking.

Not much later, a story about Walking Street in Pattaya and drugging bargirls appeared on the blog. I've never walked Walking Street, but I suspect it's not a street for fun shopping and bargirls don't strike me as women looking for women.

I started to wonder: Is Thailandblog a men's blog? Walking Street, bargirls and flipping back I came across countless stories about Thai women. But where are the stories about cooking, gardening, shopping, fashion, clothing, jewelry, make-up, home decor, children? All topics that form the main pillars of women's magazines such as Linda, Margriet, Libelle and so on. They could be counted on the fingers of one hand. And where were the writing women? I encountered few.

What should I think of this? Is Thailandblog not read by women, do women not write or do they perhaps think: nobody cares what I have to say? I refuse to believe that. So I call on the female readership of Thailandblog to grab the pen. Write a story and by that I don't just mean a story like Maria's, but also an article about clothing trends, for example Thailand, Thai women in rural areas - the number of topics is endless.

And now I'm going to discriminate. I forbid men to comment here. Only women are allowed to do that. Actually, this blog post should have been written by a woman. And maybe it is. Isn't Dicky also a female name?

Bye, Dicky.

Yes, in the beginning I also thought this is only meant for men.. If a real “men's subject”' (read about women) is discussed, I will also give my opinion on that. No problem. We also like to read something other than knitting and cooking stuff, which we are bombarded with on TV every day. I'm sure the blog is also read (and approved) by many women. Nevertheless, there are specific topics for both sexes and one prefers sister and the other prefers that. Women are generally less inclined to be in the pen and state a clear point of view (there are exceptions, thankfully). There will also be fewer (foreign) women entrepreneurs in Thailand than men, and there will be more single men there than women. Which does not alter the fact that we will regularly be heard from us (come on women). Okay.

Dear people, what is this about. Am 58 years old and female. Frankly, I am happy with this thailand blog. Besides sex and Walking Street, there are fortunately other topics that are discussed on this blog. If you're not interested in that, too bad! I'm happy for myself that my interests at least extend beyond the bars and sex entertainment. Something for everyone, and oh well, let everyone be in his or her own worth.

The majority of Western women may become frustrated at the sight of that gracefully elegant Thai woman, a woman like Buddha (or God) created a woman. Can imagine a western woman would not want to see this. And let it stay that way!

I can only agree with Janin. I also regularly respond to topics that are discussed here. And is this a men's forum? Maybe a little more, say 60/40. I take advantage of many topics, such as places and areas I'm not familiar with that are discussed here. I'll put it on my list to visit next time. And subdue the real men… well, they are often interesting too, so we women also know what is going on in their heads.

I really appreciate Thailandblog because of its versatility and there are many useful tips, I also post a story every now and then.
For the real women subjects I am working on setting up a website that will be launched soon. This site will be about good and healthy food in Thailand, great tips for women in particular, but men can of course also watch. These tips will, for example, be about where is a good hairdresser, a good manicure, pedicure, where to find the special shops, etc. and nice women's events.
So for the women who miss these tips just a little patience and Thailandblog keep it up, I read ALL the stories with pleasure precisely because relationships with a Thai partner are also written realistically and not just roses scent and moonshine which is quite normal in any random relation.
And for Thaiodoro I feel like we're dealing with a man here and I'm sorry it has to be insulting, no need.

Yes Monique, will indeed be a man. A woman who talks about other women like that is not worthy of that name. Or like a friend of mine wanted a Thai woman, just because she is so docile and doesn't contradict, she hit the wrong one. He doesn't do or say anything she doesn't want. (hahaha). Maybe so too Taiodoro….keep on dreaming

Hello Monique I also always read thailand blog and am very interested in thailand where I have been coming for 22 years. Enjoy shopping in Bangkok and also visit family with my brother who lives in pattaya. And I look forward to Monique's blog.
And we women do respond if it's interesting to us. But thailandblog keep it up and I want to give kudos to Maria too. I think it's great that you just moved there on your own. Good luck.
And all men live the way you think you are happy life is so short so let everyone enjoy whether it is a Thai lady or a Dutch lady.

      Greetings to everyone

I completely agree with my predecessors, I would like to do a holiday report (again in January for a month) but not specifically about women's affairs.

  7. Dick van der Lugt says up

@ Monique, Miek37, Janin Good initiative, Monique, my own blog. I think thailandblog will occasionally pay attention to your blog (with a link). And what are you paying attention to to post a summary on thailandblog? You reach more people with it.

Incidentally, you (and Janin) have read something in my contribution (indeed from a man) which is not there and which I did not mean. I have only noticed that the vast majority of blog posts are written by men and that the 'typical' women's topics, which you will pay attention to in your blog, are missing. Nothing offensive, just an observation.

Miek37: Good idea such a holiday report. That would fit perfectly in the series 'Dagboek van', because so far those stories have only been written by expats. Stories from tourists are more than welcome. M curious.

The others: thanks for your response. I also think thailandblog is a versatile blog with (usually) interesting stories that I like to read. Entertaining and educational.

Question: what do you look like?

    • Thaiodora says up

Answer: 170 cm long and this morning still 62.1 kg clean on the hook. Average for the rest. So you can probably deduce from this that the Western gluttony and obesity has passed me by

Thaiodoro, I'm afraid you're missing the point of the topic, let's keep it fun........

Dick, I don't mean your story but Theodoro's comment which I find offensive, I don't understand why some people have to criticize Western women so much. If one would like, there are always less nice sides to be found in African, American, French, Greek, Spanish, South American and Asian women and men, just to name a few. Just find someone you love, love and have fun with without offending others there are millions of western couples who have a deep loving relationship and have fun together just like any other couples combined enjoy your own happiness but don't criticize others who are also very happy with their western wife or husband…..

Dick: Understood. Misunderstanding on my part. Excuse.
