The Thai Meteorological Department has warned of stormy weather with heavy rain in 18 provinces in the north, northeast, east and south of the country. Heavy rainfall can cause flooding, the so-called 'flashfloods'.

The bad weather has to do with foothills of the monsoon trough drifting across the north and northeast. The southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand also still influences the weather.

The monsoons are responsible for scattered showers in almost all parts of the country or 60% of provinces in the north, northeast, east and southern west coast.

Tourists in residents in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Loei, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Sakhon Nakhon, Yasothorn, Nong Khai, Bung Kaen, Amnart Charoen, Si Sa Ket, Ubon Ratchathani, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi and Trang must be extra careful of the consequences of heavy rainfall such as floods and mudslides.
