Heavy rain and flooding in Hua Hin

A depression that reached Thailand via Vietnam and Cambodia caused a lot of flooding yesterday and last night, including in the popular seaside resort of Hua Hin. The Meteorological Department already warned on Sunday about the impetuous weather.

A number of streets in Hua Hin are flooded. The editors of Thailandblog received the photo above. This one was taken at Damnernkasem Road in Hua Hin.

Streets have also been flooded in other parts of central Hua Hin. The Phetkasem Road near Market Village is flooded.

Residents in the vicinity of Soi 112 have been without power for hours. A number of schools are closed today.

Pethkasem Road (between Pranburi and Hua Hin) is also closed outside Hua Hin due to high water on the street. I had to make a diversion today when I had to go to a pharmacy for my sick wife. On a road that often floods when it rains, a motorcyclist stopped in front of me and I watched him pick up a few fish. These had come on the road from the fields next to the road.
Saved a dozen or so fish from suffocation.
When driving further there was a part where the fish were not doing so well: they were picked up by people and thrown into a bucket ... they are probably already processed into an evening meal!

Fortunately, we ourselves hardly suffer from the rain. The garden is flooded, but that is normal and the water is draining away steadily.

Only at the rivers it will happen again that there is land under them….

Arrived on Sunday. Have never had so much trouble with the rain. Today we drove from koh takiab by taxi to Tesco. It took 45 minutes due to flooding. Had a terrible thunderstorm last night. Never experienced.

There was really more underwater, only the higher areas were not… it was just almost all of HH
A very large piece of the monkey mountain Khao Takiab has also collapsed …
So pretty intense especially for the poor people their houses are often under water up to their waists.
