EVA Air still in the lead, Air Berlin dropped in airline poll
Posted in Flight tickets

The election of best airline flying to Bangkok is still in progress. Although EVA Air seems to be the clear winner with 25% of all votes and China Airlines a close second, we see Singapore Airlines rising strongly. This airline is known for its excellent service. KLM and Air Berlin compete for fourth place.
You can still make your vote count and influence the result by voting if you haven't already done so.
Best airline election
The editors of Thailandblog.nl have decided to give this election an official touch. The winner of the poll receives a certificate and can then call itself “the best airline to Bangkok 2010” (voted by the readers of Thailandblog) for one year.
The standings on November 9, 2010, after 212 votes:
- EVA Air (25%, 54 Votes)
- China Airlines (13%, 28 Votes)
- Singapore Airlines (9%, 20 Votes)
- KLM (9%, 19 Votes)
- Air Berlin (9%, 19 Votes)

ETIHAD was just chosen as the best aviation company for the 2nd year in a row
hence their logo “FLY WITH THE BEST”
Duration ? 772 € R/T all inclusive (Brussels-Bangkok)
Be careful with the transfer in Abu Dhabi: if you arrive at 1 am from BKK
you may have to wait until 9 or 10 am!
Sorting out dates and hours is the message, also with regard to the price
In the past I also regularly flew with Etihad, underlining the good service and not being stingy with consumptions, in which Eva and China are number 1. But because of the very long waiting times at AD with those extremely annoying security checks, I decided against that and therefore opt for Airbelin, so no transfer and no arrogant passport checks at Schiphol.
I have flown with Air Berlin for the last 6 years always been good, service everything. But now Air Berlin makes a layover of +- 4 hours and I went back to Eva Air, which I now find the best.
Hi everyone,
I am planning to fly to Bangkok from Amsterdam in early December, returning on 23 February.
At EVA, their terms and conditions state the following:
2.You are required to present the credit card used to purchase the ticket during check-in at the airport. For identification at the check-in counter, you must use a credit card with the card number and name stamped into it. You are required to input your first name and last name exactly as displayed on the credit card. Passengers who fail to do so will be denied boarding unless they purchase a full-fare ticket at the airport ticket counter.
The problem is that I don't pay for my ticket myself. So this will cause problems at check-in as I can't present a credit card with which the flight was paid.
If I now opt for an Evergreen Card, do I still have to present the credit card?
Thanks in advance!
I once experienced that I had to show my credit card. This rule is probably to prevent fraud.
Money only when booked directly with EVA.
I have good experience sending a question to them by fax (they have an office in amsterdam)
Received a prompt reply by fax.
Another solution is to buy a ticket at a travel agency (BMair, 333travel) with a credit card.
They are sometimes cheaper than booking directly with EVA.
Some airlines (including Thai and Bangkok Airways) do this with that credit card, indeed only with direct booking, to prevent fraud. However, if you book the same flight via Expedia, for example, there is nothing to worry about. Annoying… makes it complicated to book for others if you are not on that flight yourself.
Thai Airways does make it possible, by sending faxes or visiting the ticketing office in person, to issue a ticket, whereby the traveler does not have to show the credit card again when checking in. But that is a hassle of course, and this makes a fast internet booking an old-fashioned undertaking.
Even if you have an Evergeen card, you must show the credit card used to pay.
Indeed, to prevent fraud

Too bad I was only allowed to cast 1 vote for 1 company.
Malaysia is a close second to Singapore in terms of service.
Both can be particularly interesting for flights with Phuket as final destination. Have flown to Phuket several times for around €700 with a suitcase weighing ± 25 kg.
The advantage over BKK is that you do not have to check in again (eg at Air Asia) with a substantial additional payment for your suitcase.
And neither BMair nor 333travel have these offers. So Phuket goers, subscribe to the Singapore and Malaysia newsletter.
EVA has the advantage of an affordable evergreen class.
Eddy B., a waiting time of 9-10 hours in Abu Dhabi is very exceptional. Then something had gone wrong. The last 3 years I have flown Bangkok-Brussels twice a year and always have waiting times of 2-2 hours!. By the way, you will soon receive a silver frequent flyer customer card, which gives you access to the Premier Lounge during that waiting time with a free buffet, drinks, including champagne, delicious Australian wine, etc. and of course comfortable seats everywhere. And all you have to do is wave that customer card and you will be given priority at the security checkpoint. I was a bit ashamed of such preferential treatment compared to the hundreds of Filipino Mecca visitors, Filipino sailors, (Nether) Belgians and others who saw me crawling along. EVA-air and China Airlines naturally score highly with many Dutch people, because they are direct flights to Bangkok from Amsterdam. I also have excellent experiences with EVA-air's evergreen class. Recently flew with KLM, but never had such a bad meal in the air. Disgusting. And when one of the flight attendants asked me what I normally flew with, it turned out that she had never heard of ETIHAD: “Would you like to spell it out?” NB, has been chosen as the best airline in the world for 3 years.
The food on board ETIHAD is of course also excellent and that is always an important moment in such a boring long flight.
I don't think you should compare apples with oranges.
Air berlin does not fly from Schiphol so that is a completely different story.
Eva Air is at the top of my list, especially since they had a really good offer this summer.
Book before August 15 and the flight had to take place before December 15, then a discount of minus 30%.
That worked out well for us because we flew December 4th: 2x Evergreen for the price of
economy. Bingo!
Frank
Comparing airlines remains difficult because everyone sets different criteria.
If only the price is important, it will be mahan/egypt air/any other airline with a transfer.
If only comfort is important then it will be singapore airlines/eva air/china airlines.
Personally, I always choose Airberlin because Dusseldorf airport is easily accessible for me and because the tickets are relatively cheap. A flight with Airberlin is not really comfortable, the food is far from good, but all in all, for me, Airberlin has the best price/quality ratio. I always think that flight is more of a necessary evil. I'm still thinking about taking a flight with a stopover at some point, but the long waiting times seem far from ideal.
Nowhere do I read anything about Egyptair. has anyone ever flown with it and what are the impressions. I would like to hear that soon. Grtjs
I do not know on what basis this survey takes place but it is very unrealistic. People probably vote for the airline they flew with without knowing what the other airlines offer.
If you see that EVA Air, China Airlines are ahead of real toppers such as SINGAPORE AIRLINES, CATHAY PACIFIC, QATAR AIRWAYS, EMIRATES and ETIHAD, this says a lot about the reliability of this election.
