In a move that will delight fans of long-distance travel and international connections, Thai Airways announces that its planes will land again in the heart of Europe, specifically at Brussels Airport, by the end of 2024. The announcement, made by the CEO in an interview with the renowned German-language aviation media Aerotelegraph, marks a new phase in the airline's strategic expansion in Europe.

Following a temporary suspension of the Bangkok-Brussels route in summer 2022, this relaunch demonstrates THAI Airways' robust recovery and ambitious future plans. Earlier this year, the airline made waves by announcing the resumption of flights to Milan and Oslo in July, a sign of the aviation giant's growing European presence.

The Brussels route, first launched in November 2011, was temporarily halted due to the global pandemic, before a brief revival in November 2021 was quickly followed by another hiatus in August 2022. The reintroduction at the end of 2024 is a sign of confidence in the revival of international travel and the important role Brussels plays in Thai Airways' global network.

Although a precise date for the restart has not yet been released, the CEO emphasizes the importance of the end-of-year period for the relaunch, demonstrating the company's determination to once again build a bridge between Asia and Europe, and in particular between Bangkok and the Belgian capital. This news is undoubtedly a boost for both business and leisure travelers who are looking forward to more options for direct flights between these two worlds.

Great, then we have more options to fly directly to Thailand. I hope they will certainly compete with EVA on prices,
I myself was treated very nicely by Thai airways with Corona.

I don't care if they leave Brussels again. To date, I am still waiting for my money because of the Corona, so never again Thai Airways for me.

Well done. Doing. More room for those who choose Thai.
By the way, I did get the money back for 2 tickets.

Hi Ed, just wanted to respond to this! I had booked my ticket during the Corona time via budget air. I checked again last month and indeed Thai Airways had started the payment and 1 week later the refund was in my account. So go back and find out for yourself, I would say. Good luck

          Hi Frank,

Thank you for your response, but I regularly email the Brussels office and the last response from 7 days ago was: We must check this with our head office.
I no longer assume that a refund will take place and I expect that I am not the only one who is still waiting for his money.

booked directly with the company or through a travel agency?

        • RonnyLatYa says up

I had made my booking directly with Thai.

      Then you were lucky.
After a lot of insistence (almost weekly emails) I only got my ticket refunded after 4 years...

Hopefully with good service on board, a few weeks ago I went from BKK to FRA with Thai airways in business class, it is no longer like a few years ago, the crew is not friendly, it is difficult to have a glass of wine with food, I simply forgot to ask my wife for breakfast. Thai what she needed to drink and then the price, next time I will think carefully about another company, we will include the stopover

In fact, we just got back from Bangkok, the Business class was beyond the price, nothing nice next time with the Emirates who know what service is

We also flew with Thai Airways from BKK to FRA two weeks ago, but in Economy. The flight was ok, but the service was anything but. In no way comparable to the excellent service of the past. Even the Thai dish with the meal was unpalatable. No drinks service with food, you had to wait until coffee. In a crowded economy class, this can take a while.
We hope for better service when we can fly directly from Brussels again next time.

Flew several times from Frankfurt with Thai Air to BKK, in terms of price they are much cheaper than Lufthansa and KLM from Amsterdam.
Unfortunately, not all meals were available the last time and I could not choose, and the meal I received was not good, a German called the purser and told him thoroughly that the food was nasty, after which he received a meal which was left over from the Buines class.
Too bad, next time we might choose a different company

    Gr. Arno

I read “The Brussels route, first launched in November 2011, was temporarily halted due to the global pandemic, before a brief revival in November 2021 was quickly followed by another interruption in August 2022″”
But I really arrived here from Brussels with Thai Airways in December 2019..

    • RonnyLatYa says up

Thailand was only closed in April 2020 due to COVID..
So it is normal that you flew to Thailand with Thai Airways in December 2019 without any problems. Doesn't it say anywhere that this wasn't possible in 2019.

      • RonnyLatYa says up

By the way, I flew back to Thailand from Brussels with Thai in September 2019.
I then returned to Belgium in July 22 and was also able to experience the last flight with Thai to Bangkok from Brussels in August 22.

    • Bert says up

I already flew with Thai Airways from Brussels in 1992, I think.
During those years I sometimes changed companies.

      • RonnyLatYa says up

        Wasn't that flight via Frankfurt?
But Sabena also flew to Bangkok then, I think, because they had a counter at Don Muang.
