Schiphol is growing fast. In the first half of this year, the airport saw 29,7 million passengers. That is almost 10 percent more than in the first half of last year.

The number of landing and taking off aircraft increased by 5,9 percent to 228.630. And 1,6 percent more freight was transported. Schiphol expects the number of passengers to exceed 2016 million throughout 63, which is a record. Schiphol's passenger figures have been growing for years. In order to cope with the arrival of all those people, the airport company will increase its investments from an average of 400 to 600 million euros per year. In March, Schiphol already decided to build a new terminal and pier, the so-called A-area.

Passengers spent less money in the shops at the gates in the past six months. Spending fell from 14,66 euros to 13,70. Spending on the catering industry rose slightly, from 5,59 euros to 5,91 euros.

Schiphol has reduced its rates by an average of 11,6 percent since April, but this has been compensated by the growth in the number of passengers.

In total, the airport made a net profit of 121 million euros, 40 percent less than last year. The Dutch State, the municipalities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam and Aéroports de Paris are the owners of Schiphol.

I would stop tinkering with the square meter they are planning now. Think bigger and build a new terminal as stated in other plans on the other side of the road. Enough space and an opportunity to set up everything in terms of infrastructure. But maybe they don't dare yet because of the uncertainty for the future surrounding KLM.

Dear Jack, the airport Schiphol has little to do with KLM. The owner of Schiphol is the Schiphol Group: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schiphol_Group
There are other airlines flying to Schiphol. I worked for Lufthansa for years. I always heard the same comment about Frankfurt Airport. LH was grumbled whenever something was wrong at the airport. Here the owner is the town of Kelsterbach.
And to go into this in more detail: even if your suitcase does not end up at the airport, this is not primarily the fault of your airline, but of the handling agent who transports the suitcases and who works at Schiphol as well as in many other airports are their own companies again.
Of course, an airline will work with these companies and do everything they can to bring your suitcase to its destination or to find out where it eventually ended up, but it is not the Airline that handles the matter.
Just like this, KLM has little to do with the expansion of Schiphol. They are simply customers there and also pay for the use of the airport. The only difference between Schiphol and other airports for KLM is that it is the home airport and that is where they have their headquarters and probably also education and training center and also the place where the crews have their headquarters.

In the Netherlands, pessimistic experts are still considering a Sabena scenario for KLM. As an airport, you have to take that into account when making future plans. It creates uncertainty at a company like Schiphol. That's what I mean by Jack. Personally, I think more of a takeover of KLM with many opportunities for Schiphol. There are good plans for after 2030 if all continues to go well and those plans are much better for Schiphol and the customers than what they are going to do now. Schiphol used to be high on the lists of the best airport and in 2016 they keep dropping places. In the last 2 years I have seen that the current infrastructure at and around Schiphol is starting to wring. Tomorrow it's time to fly with your old boss Sjaak. A company that has been flying from Schiphol for a long time. Last year or was it already 2 years ago had a nice outing with them because of the anniversary.

Would be a good plan, but then I would first do something about those staff who strike again and again and all those complainers who are bothered by the noise.
Because if you buy or rent a house near an airport, you know that this produces noise or not?
So the largest possible airport with good service and affordable prices and not a cup of coffee with a cheese sandwich for 12 euros.
