Schiphol has a completely renovated lounge in the heart of the terminal. Lounge 2 is divided into seven themed worlds in which the traveler is central. Each theme world offers the traveler an experience: from 'Luxury' to 'Family' and from 'Modern Dutch' to 'Care & Wellness'.

Departing passengers can see all seven worlds at a glance upon arrival. Each theme world is characterized by its own use of materials, design and is equipped with matching services, such as seating areas, catering establishments and shops. The renovation of Lounge 2 took more than a year and a half. The work took place in phases and as much as possible in the evenings so that the process in the lounge could continue as usual. Shops remained partially open in smaller and temporary locations and travelers could also use the offer in Lounge 3.

Every year, more than 15 million people travel via Lounge 2. More than half (61%) of these transfer at Schiphol. For the other travelers, Schiphol is the starting point of their journey. As a result of the renovation, approximately 20% of retail and catering space has been added. The total area on the first and second floors of Lounge 2 is now approximately 16.000 m2.

With the arrival of the Johnnie Walker House, Schiphol has a first in Europe. In addition, there are brand stores of Gucci, Bulgari, Hermès and Rolex, among others. Also in the field of catering, there is Café Cocó, a Starbucks and the Heineken Bar. You can recharge your batteries or relax just before departure at XpresSpa.

It was also necessary to keep up with fellow airports. By the way, I call it shopping area 2 and not lounge 2. I regularly heard that it was considered a bit old and outdated. Now quickly start with a new terminal building with a spacious train station on the other side of the road for non-Skyteam companies. Schiphol can then rise again in the rankings of modern and favorite airports.

In the lounge where I normally sit. food and drinks are free.
This pimped-up departure hall or shopping area uses ridiculous
prices for food and drinks. Schiphol has lost its way for years.

Free does not exist to keep it short….

It remains a seating area for loitering passengers in a shopping mall.
The lounges where food and drinks are free are not reserved for these people. Because the ticket that entitles you to access such a lounge has a ridiculous price tag.
I've never understood why people need to buy a very expensive watch or piece of jewelry at an airport. The price is often not attractive even without VAT. And why should people get free food and drink at an airport?
All superfluous dysfunction. It is not for nothing that some low-cost airlines order more new aircraft per year than the entire KLM fleet is large…

Bit of an overreaction French. You should read more carefully about the figures of KLM and Air France. Unfortunately, KLM is the victim of that French bumbling!

This lounge looks slick, as it should be in this day and age. Just look at the other luxury airports. Travelers just want this, there are also business people and normal people who are willing to pay and not just want to buy another beer for 80 cents and a pad kra pao for 90 cents!

I've been sticking to EVA air for years. Sometimes I'm a Golden frequent flyer. THAT are only lounges (all over the world)

And this way there is NO price tag attached to it.

And I would like to talk to you for an hour about KLM's price tags………
